Remote Wilderness Experience
Description
Cow River Lodge is located at the confluence of three rivers, surrounded by endless miles of forest, abundant wildlife and world class fishing. How it works. Cow River Lodge is accessible only by boat, float plane, or ATV. Bring your group, (or maybe just a couple of friends), bedding, your food (coolers, etc.), and fish, swim, hike, and relax. Then just unplug, relax, breathe the fresh air, build a campfire, and see the stars as you've never seen them before. The space Formerly a youth camp, this spacious building has ample room for your group. Completely off-grid, every amenity feels like decadence. A wood stove keeps it cozy inside on crisp mornings, the double-hung thermopane windows keep the wilderness out. The best part about this space is the beauty. With so much to experience you won't be spending much time inside. The kitchen is equipped with a three burner propane cooktop and a sink with running water (water must be heated on the cooktop for washing dishes). It is fully stocked with dishes, cups, bowls, silverware, kitchen knives, basic spices, tea towels, washcloths, etc. There is a propane fridge freezer, but you will want your own cooler with ice to transport your food as we do not stock ice in the freezer. There are two, clean outhouses that serve as bathrooms, and one outdoor hot water shower. The water for the shower and the kitchen sink comes from a solar pump in the river and is not intended for drinking. Five-gallon containers of drinking water are provided and dispensed from a hand pump. The Kitchen/Dining/Lounge area also has a wood stove to take the chill off on the occasional cool night. Guest access Outside there is a fire pit for campfires or there is a tripod and grate for cooking over an open fire. A Propane grill is provided as well if you prefer something less rustic. We do maintain some trails from the lodge, enjoy a walk to the Cow River and return to the lodge along the beach, or use our Sunset Trail to take in the sunset over the reservoir. There is a canoe for guest use, life jackets must be worn at all times while using the canoe or in any of our boats. A 14 ft Grumman fishing boat with a 25hp electric start outboard is available for an extra fee. It has a live well, rod holders, and 2 padded seats. Other things to note The camp is only accessible by boat, float plane, or ATV. Guests coming to Cow River Lodge will need a boat capable of taking them, their guests, and all their supplies 23 miles (35 km) upriver. The reservoir is a long narrow scenic gorge in northern Ontario wilderness, just south of Lake Superior Provincial Park. Guests to our lodge generally come for the fishing, but the waterfalls and panoramic views attract hikers and kayakers, and canoeists to the area as well. If you are planning a trip and would like us to transport food. bedding, etc. portage service is available for an extra fee.
