Description
Please don't come here - If you're looking for big city lights, mod cons & public transport. Please do come here - If you're interested in growing your own food, keeping bees, hiking, food preservation, nature, chickens & geese, bats, birdsong & silence (hens/geese/wildlife permitting!). The Swallow's Nest is a tiny barn which sits between Slievenamon & the Comeragh mountains, in the glorious valley known as The Honeylands but is only a ten minute drive from Clonmel, Tipperary's County town. The space The Swallow's Nest is a single room tiny converted 300 year old barn, with all of the associated quirks (think wobbly lime washed walls, occasional nesting birds or hibernating mice in the old roof and old wooden beamed ceiling) and a great ensuite bathroom. There is a small kitchenette with 2 ring hob, microwave/grill, airfryer and other kitchen basics and a view of the hens in the little orchard. The really comfortable truckle bed can be set up as a single, twin singles or a super king making it a really versatile space. Guest access You are welcome to take advantage of all outside spaces. We can give you a goose free experience if the lads make you nervous but the hens and cats are no respecters of human boundaries! Wifi is temperamental here in the valley. It could be ok in the barn or just as often it might not. We think it depends on the weather, allignment of the stars or possibly the flight path of birds! You're welcome to take advantage of the house WiFi which is good. You can do this by taking a seat in the courtyard or taking advantage of our big kitchen table or the parlour sofa. Other things to note We want you to enjoy your stay so we'll be really honest. We can't promise that the geese or hens won't shout out if a fox comes by at night but they'll make it up to you with fresh eggs for breakfast during their laying seasons. Our geese can be seriously stroppy on occasions too, often for no obvious good reason so it's best not to feed them until they get to know you. Mice sometimes try to move in during Winter time, and the bats have figured out that if they fly past the security cameras, moths will gather and it's midnight buffet time. Also, nobody told the cats that they don't own everything, so be prepared for them to demand lots of scritches!
