Studio in the Treetops, 15 Min Walk to Waterfalls

The sights and sounds of nature will reward all who choose The Tower. Our hideaway offers guests all the peace, privacy and comforts necessary to explore a unique tropical mountain paradise. We're only a 15-minute walk from the Rio Maria River Trail with its waterfalls and swim holes. A short drive leads to Valle Bonito Cloud Forest. Be sure to bring cameras and binoculars to spot toucans and mono titi monkeys! Our peaceful setting caters well to socially distant breaks. The space When you arrive at the Towers at Laurel 58, you enter your own private gate and park in your own carport. Now the tower to your treetop studio beckons! As you climb the stairs, take in the garden and look down towards the bridge over the brook which flows most of the year. On the landing outside the studio door, there is a bistro table for enjoying calm and privacy. A cozy perch for a glass of wine, perhaps? When you open the door and walk up the remaining winding tower stairs, the spacious 500 sq ft (45 sq meter) treetop studio greets you with its cathedral ceiling and garden views on two sides. This is a self-catering holiday home with a functional kitchenette. You can dine inside or outside. All windows and doors are screened to let in the fresh mountain air. For added comfort, there are also ceiling fans. The studio boasts a queen size bed and a six drawer dresser. You will find a shower, basic toiletries, towels and a hairdryer in the bathroom. Outside, you can lounge in a hammock in the covered mosaic patio or on one of two private balconies, one in front and one in back of the studio. Some guests like to sip their morning coffee on the front balcony looking up at ever changing Mount Picacho and listening to and watching the colorful birds. Often you'll hear toucans, even if they are hard to spot at the top of the mango or corotu trees on the property. The list of sightings of interesting birds at Laurel 58 includes : red legged honey creepers, rufous mot mots, yellow crowned euphonias, crested oropendolas and chachalacas. Guest access The covered mosaic patio, the gardens and the outdoor artwork all provide additional relaxation and entertainment when not in the studio or on one of its balconies. Other things to note We are about 90 minutes from Tocumen International Airport. There are no grocery stores or gas stations here. There is one full service restaurant in Altos with breathtaking views and two convenience stores 15 minutes away in the quaint village of Sora. All other services and the beaches are a 40 minute drive away in Coronado. When arriving from Panama City, many people stop at Costa Verde, an hour away from the studio, for a few groceries at the 24/7 El Rey supermarket which also has a large drugstore. If you want to spend more time in Altos or need more space or do not wish to climb stairs, we also rent a one bedroom wheel chair accessible suite on the main floor of the same property.
