Waterville Estate is a charming 10-acre spread in Santa Cruz valley, and consists of several bungalow cabins among a citrus and flower orchard. The cabin for rent is the farthest back and most private, among fruit trees, flowers, and with a small stream running at the base of the slope. With one bedroom and queen bed it's perfect for single travelers and couples. Open concept Spanish windows and doors allow you to fully enjoy cool nights and breezy days, and the lush green all around. A front porch with 2 cozy love-seats, a rocking chair and a hammock allow for lots of options when lounging outside. For a restful retreat, inside is just as inviting since it feels like you're outside, with several more single cushion chairs and a bed which sits alongside a spanish style iron frame window - allowing you to feel you're among the trees in the daytime, and under the stars at night. The cottage will be fully rented and accessible to renting guests. There are a few other spaces on the estate, occupied by other renters and the estate owners. These are private and separate, but the estate grounds is inviting for everyone to walk around and enjoy. I won't be staying on the property during visits - but will be available to check in and help, or else will have another person (Kevon) to receive and provide arrival assistance, and answer any questions. The estate owners and staff are generally always present also, and are friendly and helpful. Santa Cruz has some neat up and coming restaurants and cafes - though not many! It is mostly a nature retreat setting, but though few and far between there are some nice options. These include the chocolate bar cafe (locally produced and handmade); Mayaro Tide for the BEST local lunches, and the Green Market Santa Cruz for an array of delicious options on a Saturday morning. There are also one or two decent bakeries, and 'faster' food places, such as grills and burger joints, and a grocery store nearby. A vehicle is recommendable, else you will find yourself probably using TT Rideshare since the Estate isn't exactly in the heart of town and Trinidad requires a lot of moving anyway to enjoy all the best spots. However, these food joints are about 25 mins walk, or 5 mins driving. The main city of Port of Spain is about 25 mins drive away, while a popular north coast beach called Maracas is about 35 mins drive in the other direction. If you are feeling adventurous, it is possible to hike over the mountain from the Estate to Maracas Beach! But you'll need to get some good advice (or possibly a hired guide) from the local estate staff.
