For those who have seen it, Pedro's Bluff is as iconic a view as Diamond Head in Hawaii. The view of this natural landmark is spectacular -- through coconut palms over green lawns that stretch to the ocean's edge to Great Pedro Bluff beyond. Then, stroll down the lawn thru the gate to the right about 100 yards a sandy beach cove with calm waters; your second beach access is the wide sandy beach of Great Bay Beach, the largest and calmest on the South Coast with the best swimming -- it's about a 7-10 minute stroll away along the shoreline towards the left of the property. The property is exclusively yours to use, with staff who cook and clean for you daily. MARIE, the property manager/housekeeper will meet you to give you the key and answer any questions you may have. Guests can bring in their own supplies for MARIE to cook with and/or she can go shopping for you. If you bring in your own supplies, shopping in Montego Bay first is highly suggested or in Black River along the way depending on the day of the week and time you will be driving through. Marie can pre-purchase and prepare an arriving meal (the owner will pre-purchase ingredients) you pay Marie directly after you get settled via receipts/records. Marie is also able to arrange local fruit/veg vendor and fish/lobster on request. It is appropriate to pay Marie and her housekeeping help 15% of your rental rate for their time. Additional tips at your discretion depending on services provided. Driftwood is located in Great Bay, Treasure Beach, Jamaica (St. Elizabeth Parish). It is the sister property to a new (As of 2021) 2-bedroom property, called Awandaweh Cottage. They are on the same 2-acre property and can be rented in combination for a larger group with a maximum of 10 guests. Driftwood is located in the small fishing village of Great Bay on the South Coast of Jamaica. It is a quiet village comprised of a small close-knit group of wonderfully friendly people. It is a perfect place to decompress and check out from the busyness of daily life. The closest international airport to Treasure Beach is Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay. Driftwood is approximately 60 miles from the airport and takes about 2.5 hours by car. The drive is an amazing introduction to Jamaica that takes you through the mountain border of the cockpit country and along the Southern Coast. We can organize a PPV insured/certified driver, Mark who will meet you. If you desire, he take you to a currency exchange (much better rate than airport Cambio) as well as to a grocery/liquor/pharmacy store for you to pick up your supplies for your stay (if Marie is not pre-stocking the property for you) -- bank/credit cards are accepted at these locations. Mark can also be your driver for local outings and excursions. You need daylight to see the roads and intersections...signs are not always clear and street lights are minimum to none, and there are a lot of potholes (it is not like driving on the North Coast Highway). ---- FYI - Kingston's airport, Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) is approximately 100 miles from Driftwood and takes about 3.5 hours.
