Chatanta Cottage sits on our 30 acre property, where we also live and conduct general farming activities. We are close enough to help with any issues, but far enough for you to still feel very private in your own space. You may notice a tractor or people in the paddock occasionally. Please note, there are horses on the property. The cottage area is cordoned off with electric fence tape. This is a deterrent meant to to keep the horses out, as they eat the plants surrounding the cottage, and nibble on the deck railing! Please do not touch the white tape. The electric current is not life threatening to humans or animals, but will give you, an uncomfortable feeling if you do accidentally touch it. Being in the bush, wildlife can be expected. Look out for a family of kangaroos that often bounce through the paddock, ducks on the little dam, and plenty of bird life, as well as pesty insects! For your own comfort, please keep all unnecessary lights off inside the cottage and bathroom, and on the deck, to reduce the amount of insects that the light may attract. Keeping the screen door closed will also help with this. Personal insect repellent is provided. A short walking track through the paddock has been mowed for you to wander up to the furthest corner of our property, or down to the second dam. Take your favourite nibbles and drinks and enjoy the different views of the property. A picnic basket and rug is provided. (Please note, in summer there may be snakes around) We are located 60 minutes from Brisbane, 30 minutes away from Ipswich, 50 minutes from Toowoomba, and 15 minutes from the quaint towns of Marburg, Lowood and Fernvale. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is perfect for cycling or hiking, as well as horse riding, and it is only a short drive away, depending on where you want to access the route. An Information Booklet in the cottage provides plenty of information on other places to visit in the area. Our local country pub, the Bottle Tree Hotel, is an absolute must for a lunch or dinner ( bookings are essential), and only 3 minutes away! They also offer takeaway options. We can't wait to host you, and we think you will love our simple abode, just as much as we do. See you soon! Guest access Feel free to wander around our 30 acre property. Please note, horses share our space. The only areas that are not available to guests, are the private house, which is located at the top of the property, and is fenced off, as well as our workshop area, which is located at the bottom of the property. A small walking track has been cut for you to walk up to a little spot at the top property, where you can watch the sun set, and perhaps enjoy a little picnic, or down to the second small dam on the property. A picnic basket and picnic rug is provided. Please wear appropriate footwear when walking, and keep an eye out for snakes, especially in the summer months. We suggest taking your mobile phone with you on your walk.
