Adventure Cabin aka Snow Peak Cabin Alternative
Think of this as your own private Forest Service Lookout! Secluded, rustic cabin with amazing 360 degree views, yet very close to Republic. The half-mile access road isn't plowed, so it may be snowshoe or ski-in only in the winter, depending on snowpack. There is an electric kitchen and electric heat, and a wood stove (wood provided). CABIN HAS NO RUNNING WATER FROM 10/26/24-4/15/25. In winter, please clean the cabin yourself, as there is no cleaner. Bring bedding and pack out all trash! The space If you can't book the Snow Peak Cabin, or are looking for a more tame adventure, try this. Once the snow flies, it is snowshoe or ski in only. This can be either 1/4 mile or a half mile, depending on what you want to do. It is adjacent to miles of nice hiking/snowshoeing on BLM and Forestry land. This cabin has Old West charm! It has new flooring and new, simple kitchen appliances, including a toaster oven, a cooktop, and small refrigerator and freezer. In summer, the kitchen is served by water tanks, so please conserve water. There is a gravity filter system that you can use for drinking water. In winter, you must bring your own water, as the cabin has been winterized and there is no running water. There is an outdoor grill that takes both propane and charcoal. There is electric heat that I can turn on before you get there, but that probably will just take the chill off. To get toasty, you will have to start a fire in the wood stove. I can coach you on that. There is also a wood stove if you know how to use it. There is an outdoor shower with hot water that for summer, but not available for winter. The toilet is an outhouse with a sawdust toilet. In summer, there is a flush toilet. Because of the difficulty of access in winter, we ask that you bring your own linens and clean up after yourself. There is no cleaner in the winter. Also, it is imperative that you pack out your own trash. We love this cabin and have enjoyed fixing it up. If you love nature, stars, and relaxing with an incredible private view, please come stay at the North Star Lode! Guest access I can provide detailed maps for getting to the cabin and hiking to town. Also, the Regrid App is highly recommended for finding the public lands adjacent and nearby. The drive to town is about 2 miles. Access to the cabin is via Lilly Creek Road, a barely traveled dirt road. Other things to note Water must be filtered to be potable. Water filter on counter is gravity fed. Fill it up with the sink's hose sprayer. Pack out all trash and food. Pack it in Pack it out! Due to no onsite laundry, you must provide your own linens (sheets, pillows, and towels). Please wash all dishes before leaving.
