Other things to note Summer of 2020 we all had a lot of reasons to take a step back and focus on the things that are most important to us. For our family, that meant taking the first steps toward fulfilling our dream of getting some land of our own and building a place to gather together. We’d been looking for land for years. When we first came to the 40 acres we now call Adendale, we knew right away we’d found it… Our land. Our ultimate goal is to build a huge Castle. Big enough to fit 50 people for big family reunions. Financially, that’s not something we can do just now, so we started thinking about something smaller we could build that would still be fun and unique. We found Green Magic Homes, a company that makes fiberglass houses that are made to be covered with dirt and grass. We had some really fun ideas, like a big round front door, a pool table in the basement, and secret doors. That’s about the time that Janis decided that there might be other people who would think this house was pretty cool so she started looking at HGTV shows that might want to film us building it. Sure enough, someone from the DIY Network called us. We had expected to slowly build the house over 2-3 years. That was until the TV show man said “can you build it in 3 months?” The excitement of being featured on a TV show made it too hard to refuse. That’s what put the construction into hyper-speed. If you want to watch how it all came together the show is called Building off the Grid, Season 12, Episode 3. Idaho Underground Home. That's how Adendale came to be. We hope you will love this place as much as we do.
