In this lovingly restored defensive tower dating back to 1468, centuries-old charm and modern luxury come together. Right from your window, enjoy the exclusive, picturesque view of the historic city wall, the landmark of the Old Waterworks, and a shimmering stretch of the Spree River. The Space The approx. 18 m² apartment on the second floor captivates with its round floor plan and the original, exposed natural stone walls. Despite the historic charm, you don't have to sacrifice any creature comforts. After a day of exploring the old town, you can sink into a high-quality, comfortable box-spring bed. Modern air conditioning and underfloor heating will make you feel completely comfortable in all seasons. The room includes a private, modern bathroom with shower and toilet, as well as a smart TV and fast, free Wi-Fi. Guest access Our historic tower is located in the front row, directly in the historic city wall. Since houses have been built in front of it over time, your room is absolutely quiet and cannot be seen from the street – a small, private oasis in the middle of the city. To find us: Access to the tower is nice and easy via a quiet courtyard. A shared staircase takes you upstairs. Your tower room is on the 1st upper floor and is easily accessible via 12 steps. Important note about your check-in: By default, we have scheduled self check-in for you. This means that you can check in completely flexibly and at any time from 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival. We will send you the exact instructions for this in good time before your arrival. Would you prefer to be welcomed by us in person? We'd be happy to do that! Please just write us a short message. A personal welcome is possible between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Other things to note Since the Mühlbastei is a historic defensive tower from the 15th century located directly on the old city wall, there are a few special features that will make your stay unique: Stairs & accessibility: To preserve the tower's authentic charm, there is no elevator. The tower room on the upper floor is accessible via a staircase. Please keep this in mind if you have heavy luggage. Historic masonry & Wi-Fi: The thick natural stone walls ensure a pleasantly cool indoor climate in summer. To ensure you are well connected during your stay, our complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available in the tower room. Parking options: The Old Town location offers various parking options: Right at the property: On-site underground parking spaces are available for €10/night (Note: The exit is quite narrow). Since the number of spaces is very limited, it may already be fully booked. Therefore, please be sure to request a parking space from us as early as possible. Parking garage alternative: You can easily park your car yourself in the "Centrum" parking garage (Äußere Lauenstraße). It is about 600 meters on foot from us and is a convenient, flexible option. Free parking: Free public parking is available at the corner of Mühlstraße and Unterm Schloss. From there, a steep footpath (about 20 meters in elevation) leads up to the Bastei. The tower room has a modern kitchen-living room for self-catering. If you prefer to have breakfast out in the morning, you can reach various cozy cafés and bakeries in the historic old town in just a few minutes on foot.
