Description

High-end, king sized container suite on pool level of clothing-optional container resort @ Joshua Tree retreat. Quiet, meditative, lap pool, full spectrum sauna, hot tub under the stars, gym, outdoor showers, BBQ, fire pit, fire table, hanging bed, hammocks; 5 acres of scenic gorgeousness, and miles of create-your-own hiking/running/biking/ATVing trails starting at your front door; 8 miles from the Visitors Center/Eastern entrance to Joshua Tree National Park (fastest way into the park). The space The Joshua Tree Ranchito Regio de la Playa has been designed to create a beautiful, quiet, secluded, inspirational, and one-of-a-kind artist and writer's retreat Indeed well-known hit songs (it was built by a hit songwriter), films and television shows have been created at this historic property. Inside: the main cabin is a cozy, southwestern-themed studio that features a queen sized bed and is designed for two (as well as a pull out couch that turns into a double bed, and optional cots to sleep 2 additional guests) (outdoor lounge and hammocks are also available for overflow guests during the warmer months), a beautiful and unique wood burning stove, full kitchen (incl. stove, oven, large microwave, large fridge/freezer with ice maker and filtered water dispenser), a bathroom with shower, living area, breakfast nook, and a large desk and writing area featuring a large computer monitor (just plug your laptop or mini in) w/ a high end, super comfy, leather captain's chair. Virtually silent central AC/Heat. Outside: a screened in front porch boasts a powerful, 3 speed overhead fan, plush lounge, rocking camp chairs, and an enclosed sleeping area (if our guests like the feeling of sleeping outside -- this special lanai space is the pinnacle of critter-free outdoor living) with plenty of lighting options; a 4-person jacuzzi and powerful lap pool under, the stars, a private outdoor shower with bench seating inside, and spectacular views out; top notch 4-burner Chef's bbq, fire pit, separate outdoor seating/lounging area (upon availability we have a large, enclosed dog run, and a large horse corral). Fruit trees, grape vines and succulents border the ranch house, a raised sun/star deck, a soft mat, 60 square foot mediation/yoga area; and two additional palapa areas, with hammocks for 3 people provided free of charge (some guests bring their own hammocks, or portaledges, for the palapa spaces). There is virtually no light pollution at the ranchito and there are few places on earth that can rival its spectacular sunrises, sunsets, stargazing, meteor showers, and lunar views. Guest access Our guests have full run of the five acre ranch, including the outdoor jacuzzi, outdoor shower. We are dog people and have a huge, enclosed back yard for canine guests, including a doggy sun lounge, so they can enjoy the desert without butting up against desert creatures (PLEASE NOTE -- there is an additional $69 FEE PER PET and they can't be chewers or diggers, or aggressive types; if interested in bringing pets, please get in touch before your visit and let us know how many pets your are bringing and we'll make arrangements). The ranch also has a large horse corral for equestrians; a raised sun/star deck; a soft, soft, 60 square foot mediation/yoga area; and two palapa areas with plenty of hammock space. Check in time is 3PM, Check out time is 11AM. We have lots of cool information in the guidebook section of this listing about where to go, eat, visit, and who delivers food to the ranch, but if you have anything special in mind please let us know and we'll gladly share what we know about the Joshua Tree area; and we know a lot! Please call the ranch manager the day before your visit, give or take, and then when you have an ETA on check in day, and he'll talk you in. Please DO NOT operate the BBQ grill, fire-burning stove, or make fires in the fire pit area without first discussing with the ranch manager so he can give you the info you'll need. We know that potentially sounds lame but we've had situations where people didn't know how to work these things and didn't let us know and made mistakes that caused us a lot of stress. If you're an outdoorsy grillmaster (Tom Hanks in "Cast Away" impression): "I have made fire" types, we welcome you, and if you could just chat with the Steve for a few seconds on the phone, to make sure we're on the same page per setup, all will be well. If you're city slickers without that kind of experience... same thing, discuss with Steve and we'll get you dialed in. If at any time during your stay you are unsure, even after the primer, he will be as close as your phone, don't be shy, just call him and ask, hey how's this work again? We offer an EV CHARGING STATION, super fast, 220V to our guests, free of charge, but please try to charge after 7PM, if possible, to alive peak rates. And finally, don't hesitate to let us know during your stay if there's anything we can to make it more wonderful. The ranch is clean but rustic, funky, secluded, sexy, fun and very cool. But it is cold at night December thru March, and can be nippy during the day if the wind whips up, so please do be prepared for high desert cold if booking at that time of year: bring appropriate clothing (think ski jackets). P.S. -- During the cold months (roughly December thru February, it's not a long winter out here) please bring 1-2 bundles of firewood per day for the wood stove, which you can cook on, but generally is used for heating the ranch house (and the electric stove is much more efficient for cooking, just not as much fun). Please let the Ranch Manager when you initially make contact your level of experience building/tending a campfire; tending a BBQ grill and/or wood stove and he'll give you the necessary pointers. There's central heating/AC if needed (please keep it at 74 degrees), so you won't be hot or cold no matter what. Other things to note Joshua Tree Container Resort is only 8 miles from the Visitors Center and Eastern entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, and is the closest entrance to many of the parks top destinations, including the Bell, Cottonwood Springs, Jumbo Rocks, Ryan Mountain, Sheep's Pass, Skull rock and Split rock areas. While at the ranch, guests are also only 4 miles away from the legendary Smith's Ranch drive in movie theater (one of the last of it's kind in the country), the famous 29 Palms Inn, and the wonderfully kitschy Foster's Freeze ice cream parlor. For awesome and totally unique hiking, running, mountain biking, off roading and horseback riding however you never need to get in your car. You can walk out the front door and take off, devising your own routes and outdoor adventures over miles and miles of scenic Mojave desert splendor. Wildlife is abundant in the park and at the ranchito and while lounging on the lanai, in a hammock, or in the jacuzzi our guests regularly spot coyotes, jackrabbits, all types of birds and the occasional bobcat. We are a pet friendly spot, for well-behaved animals only please, and we charge dogs a $69. FEE PER PET, per stay. The ranch features a large, fenced-in dog run, and dog day bed, so our four-legged family members can enjoy roaming the desert safely; but please note we can't welcome chewers, diggers, or aggressive types. The ranch can also be rented for functions and group retreats with prior notice and arrangements, and we have had as many as two dozen guests come together, pitch tents, or sleep in hammocks and party, study, or meditate all together, using the ranch house as a great room: meeting, cooking, eating, working and showering area. Given enough notice, and based upon availability, yoga and mindfulness instructors, massage and bodywork therapists, and climbing, hiking, cycling, ATVing, and horseback riding guides are available for hire. Also, in nearby Pioneertown, people come from all over the world to visit the internationally-renowned Pappy and Harriet's concert venue and wild west town (Paul McCartney, Lourde, and the Pretenders recently played there).
