Description

Dilijan is located in the northeast of the Armenian Highlands. Dilijan is surrounded on almost all sides by the territory of the Dilijan Reserve, one of the richest in the South Caucasus. The city itself has been given the status of a national park. Dilijan is a crossroads connecting the cities of Tavush, Lori and Gegharkunik regions. The road through the picturesque Dilijan Pass connects the city with Lake Sevan located to the south, to the east is the capital of the region - the city of Ijevan, and to the west - Vanadzor. The city is located 100 km northeast of Yerevan. A few kilometers from Dilijan towards Ijevan is the Haghartsin monastery complex. Also, a 20-minute drive from Dilijan, in the village of Gosh, there is another ancient monastic complex - Goshavank, named after Mkhitar Gosh. And 15 km from the city, in the Dilijan reserve, there is a picturesque lake Parz, which means “clean” in Armenian. The ethnographic museum of Dilijan operates in the city[12]. In 2011, the Art Museum was opened in Dilijan, which widely presents Russian, Ukrainian and Armenian paintings of the 19th-20th centuries. (Ivan Aivazovsky, Minas Avetisyan, Tatyana Yablonskaya and others), Western European painting of the 17th-19th centuries. (J.-B. Greuze, master of the Correggio circle, Flemish masters of the 17th century, Hubert Robert, etc.) and graphics, artifacts of archaeological cultures studied on the territory of Tavush, ethnographic collection. In July 2011, a monument was opened in the city to the heroes of the film "Mimino" - Ruben Khachikyan, who lived in Dilijan (Frunzik Mkrtchyan), Valiko Mizandari (Vakhtang Kikabidze) and Ivan Volokhov (Evgeny Leonov).
