Guest access This beautiful cabin is within walking distance to Lakes End Marina where you can enjoy a wide selection of boat rentals, play a game of volleyball, explore the adventure store, or enjoy a meal at Lake End Café. The marina and café are open seasonally. This cabin includes access to your private boat dock located directly on beautiful Lake Nantahala. Other things to note Nantahala is where the Blueridge mountains meet the Smokey Mountains within the Appalachian mountains! “Nantahala” is a Cherokee word meaning “land of the noon day sun,” a fitting name for the Nantahala Gorge, where the sun only reaches the valley floor at midday. Nantahala Lake: With 42 miles (68 km) of shoreline, the lake offers recreational opportunities that include swimming, boating, skiing, and many other activities. Fishing is another popular activity; aficionados will find largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, trout, salmon, catfish, and many different species of panfish. The lake water is very clear; there is almost no dissolved silt/clay. It is also the second highest lake (3000 foot elevation) east of the Mississippi! Lakes End Marina has kayaks, canoes, pontoon boats etc. for rent If you enjoy hiking or mountain biking, there are hundreds of trails all around, including the Appalachian and Bartram trails. Nantahala National Forest: Encompassing more than a half-million acres of pristine woodlands, with elevations from a high of 5,800 feet to a low of 1,200 feet. The NNF is the largest of the four national forests in North Carolina.
