It's interesting to note that the youthful Thomas Hardy assisted the architect design the parish church. The world-famous Cerne Abbas giant is only 2 miles from this gorgeous region, making it an excellent starting point for visiting, and Dorchester, a bustling market town with a variety of intriguing shops, restaurants, and museums, is highly recommended. Weymouth, a family-friendly beach town, the Jurassic coast, and majestic Portland, the site of the 2012 Olympic sailing competitions, are all easily accessible.
