Montreal Cottage Garden Room

A perfect artist / writer/ academic retreat for a single person in a a character filled artist's home. Your room has french doors that open to deck, garden and a bathroom and lounge room area for your use. 10 mins walk to town, cliff scenery - bush walks, an easy, scenic 20 min walk to the famous 3 Sisters. An ideal place for those seeking a safe, cosy base to relax, regenerate and create in. There is no kitchen but a small fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave & basic kitchen items are provided. The space A character, older style artist's home and studio in the heart of creative Katoomba and close to all the best the mountains has to offer. Your room has a comfy queen bed, small work desk & heater electric blanket. There is a larger table for use for meals and other work in the living area. The garden room looks out over the deck to the back garden. There is a side entrance so you can come and go as you please. Please note that while I do attempt to give you space and peace this is a shared, creative home so there can be occasional ambient noise within the home and shared spaces. Your bathroom has a laundry area for you to use and which I will occasionally access when you are out or not using. There is a door at the base of the stairs that I close off to give you additional privacy in the downstairs living area. Guest access Guests have use of your private room, bathroom / laundry, and shared access to the back deck, garden and adjacent living area. There is a small fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave and the essentials for very basic food heating /preparation and dining for one person in your space. Please note it is not suitable for cooking anything other than very basic things that can be done in the toaster or microwave. Best suited to those who will eat out / order takeaway but do like to able to make toast and a few snacks and simple things and store some food. I don't charge for breakfast but provide Tea, coffee and a few essentials. I keep my area in the top part of the house closed with at the base of the stairs and will give you as much privacy as possible in the downstairs areas. Please note that this is a private room with additional use of shared spaces described During your stay I am quiet and private so will leave you in peace but I am friendly and always happy to help or to recommend the best of the mountains. I have a great library of books that you are free to use while you are here and I also have a pretty good knowledge of the local area and creative community after living and working here over 30 years. This listing is a private, lockable room in a quiet home, but please note but there may be from time some unavoidable ambient noise from the shared areas of the house. I ask guests to let me know if they are early or later risers and try to keep noise to a minimum accordingly. Other things to note I live alone with a small very friendly Jack Russell called Dougie in the front part of the house. My studio is up the top of the stairs and I run occasional workshops and classes in drawing, painting and artist book making. It is a pretty quiet house most of the time with occasional short visits from friends and family, most always during the day. Dougie is a very friendly little dog who will most likely want to say hello- so the space is best suited to those who like dogs. Lots of great walks from the front door. Pool nearby.
