Historical neo-colonial Greek revival built in 1868, guests will enjoy the hardwood floors throughout, original woodwork, updated kitchen and bath, as well as a large yard with a brook at the back of the property. The room is 15 X 15, with a closet, 3 windows that provide cross ventilation, a quiet ceiling fan and an air conditioner for the rare really hot days of summer. An antique vanity doubles as a desk for laptop space and free wifi is provided. The separate guest bathroom is down the hall. There is a flat screen TV in the room as well as a dorm fridge. Coffee and tea are always available downstairs. (Keurig). Guests will have access to the bedroom and bath on the second floor, and all rooms on the first floor, including the family room with TV and a working fireplace, the large living room, the study, the kitchen and dining rooms as well as a screened-in porch, where we eat meals in the summer. My wife or I will be home to meet you and provide keys and instructions. My wife and I have lived here for over 30 years; I am a retired educator and she works in a neighboring school district. We know the area well and will be as much or as little help as our guests desire. We both enjoy meeting folks from other areas and will be glad to orient our guests to Cooperstown. We have provided an extensive list of restaurants with their phone numbers in your room, but please feel free to contact me beforehand for suggestions if you like. Sometimes websites can be misleading. We live on a quiet residential street 2 blocks from our one traffic light on Main St. It is a 5 minute walk to the Hall of Fame, Doubleday Field, the Chamber of Commerce and downtown shopping, and a mile from the Farmers Museum and Fenimore Art Museum. The Cooperstown Dreams Park is 5 miles down the road and beautiful Otsego Lake is but a 10 minute walk to Lake Front Park. Access to the two swimming areas is available. The best way to get around the village from our house is to walk, but there is also a trolley that makes regular runs during the season to all museums and Main St. There is public transportation to Oneonta, a small city located 30 miles to our south. Because you will have off-street parking, you'll be able to use the car to get to the restaurants that are a little less than a mile away and not worry about finding parking when you get back. Our off-street parking is a requirement during the winter months (also a great time to visit) and a bonus when the streets are filled with cars during "the season." IMPORTANT: If you are coming because your son/daughter is playing at Cooperstown Dreams Park, we're the place, HOWEVER, if he/she is playing at Cooperstown All-Star Village, that is 25 miles away outside Oneonta,NY, and you would be closer to the ball park staying down there. Just a warning.
