Description
Nell Gwyn Cottage is located in a wing of Orton Hall, a Jacobean mansion in Orton, Cumbria. An automatic entrance gate gives access to a tree lined drive in seven acres of grounds leading to the cottage. It is a short walk (or drive) from the village and is ideally located for activities in the Lakes, the Dales and the Eden valley. Access to Nell Gwyn Cottage is easy via the M6 motorway or the A66 trans pennine route. The space Nell Gwyn Cottage is a well proportioned dwelling in which the charm of an old cottage blends with modern facilities. There are two large bedrooms , one upstairs and one on the ground floor off the dining hall. Both have dedicated bathrooms. There is a comfortable and spacious lounge with TV, DVD player and CD stereo system, a dining hall and fully fitted traditional kitchen with oak units, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, ceramic hob and microwave oven. (The cottage is all electric). The cottage offers a secluded holiday location which is nevertheless close to village amenities. Guest access Although the cottage is self contained and private, guests also have the opportunity to access the elegant, oak panelled Great Hall in Orton Hall, where there are additional facilities including a pool table, a piano and additional space to relax. On a practical note, the Great Hall also has a coin operated laundry facility with washers and driers. There is a pub which serves good food, tea rooms, and the noted Kennedy's Chocolate factory with its associated shop. A Farmers Market takes place on the second Saturday of the month offering produce from the local area.
