Nestled between olive trees, vineyards & orchards on the hills of Poreč in Croatia, the Alisia house for 6+2 people is a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of popular tourist destinations. Located in the middle of Istria – the region known to the Romans as Terra Magica and where much still recalls the heyday of the country's cultivation. The venerable cities on the hills, the clear blue sea, and the history are just a few of the peninsula's attractions. The space The house Alisia, consisting of an ensemble of two charming old stone houses, is located on a south slope with unobstructed views of vineyards in a small village. The traditional natural materials continue inside the house: tiles made of fired clay on the first floor, natural wood and oak on the second floor. The house is pleasantly cool due to the hillside location and the materials. On particularly hot nights, the air conditioning can be switched on. On the first floor is the living and dining area - an open interior with the special charm of authenticity that connects everything. The open fireplace is the attraction in the living room and replaces the non-existent TV. The kitchen is equipped with everything you may need during your vacation: cutlery, plates, glasses, pots, salad spinner, a Nespresso machine, for which you can get environmentally friendly capsules in the local supermarkets. For coffee gourmets, there is a La Pavoni espresso hand lever machine that conjures up excellent espresso with a little practice. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen. A washing machine for laundry is located in the garden house. On the upper floor there are two air-conditioned bedrooms, which are separated from the lower area by a wooden staircase. Both bedrooms offer comfortable double beds, which invite you to take a nap during the day, to dream while reading your favorite book, listening to music or the like. A third bedroom is located in the garden house with integrated bathroom, double bed and air conditioning. The building's southern orientation creates maximum sun exposure throughout the day, while the traditional stone walls keep the house cool in summer. If it gets too hot, the large pool in the courtyard invites you to cool off. The open garden acts as a central hub of the house that you will enjoy both during the day and in the evening. A small outdoor kitchen makes it easy for you to eat your food outside in the shade of the old stone walls or in the sun. Sun loungers, hammocks and a padded corner bench under a mighty tree are perfect companions for a cozy afternoon. A fire pit in the grill is ideal for enjoying an atmospheric meal before sunset. The nearest village of Vižinada has a small corner store with a bakery. In the next largest, colorful village of Višnjan, with its attractive medieval part, a market is held every third Thursday of the month, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Istria. The famous “Borgonja” truffle restaurant is also located here. Next to it is a handful of agritouristic restaurants with local specialties. Many impressive places are only 15 to 30 minutes drive away: e.g. Motovun, known as the “village in the sky” with its famous truffle forest. A well-known film festival is also held here. The artist village of Grožnjan with its wonderful jazz festival and numerous galleries. Poreč, known for its beaches and the basilica, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a wide range of boat tours – including a day trip to Venice. There is no central heating. In winter (November-March) the pool is closed and the outdoor area can only be used to a limited extent. We accept a maximum of 4 people as the garden house is closed. Guest access The whole property is at guests' disposal. The key will be handed over on site. Other things to note Both bedrooms in the main house are equipped with an armchair that folds out as a bed. This is intended for children. There is also a portable travel crib that can be provided if needed.
