The space Here, adventure waits just beyond the porch—hiking and biking trails weave through the trees, quiet lakes shimmer for kayaking and fishing, and a dozen delightful wineries sit within a short, scenic drive. There’s always a new surprise just around the bend. This five-bedroom Victorian beauty, born in 1887, has been lovingly restored so it feels a bit like stepping back in time—only with all the modern comforts you could hope for. Sip your morning coffee on the screened-in porch as the garden wakes up, or slip into the hot tub, set anywhere between a refreshing 80° to a steamy 104°, perfect for both sun-drenched afternoons and starlit evenings. Inside, the cheerful breakfast nook invites you to gather, dream, and map out the day’s whims. If you wander into town, you’ll find Cobden’s charming antique shop, a cute history museum and shop. Restaurants include locally adored Iron Whisk serving breakfast and lunch from Thursday to Sunday, Green Mug has creative coffees and yummy sandwiches, open everyday except Thursday. Venture a few miles farther and you’ll reach Owl Creek, one of our favorite spots for delicious meals, fabulous wines and wine ciders, and often live music dancing through the air on weekends. Head into Alto Pass located off Skyline Drives twisting scenic ride is a short 8 minute drive, you’ll have options, Havisham Bourbon Bar, the name says it all, choose from a massive collection, or head on further down the road to Alto Vineyards, some of the best wines in Southern Illinois. Prefer to stay in? Our well-stocked kitchen has everything you need for a homemade feast (though we should note—no traditional oven; a large toaster oven, crock pot, 2 induction burners, griddle, blender and grill is usually all it takes for a fantastic meal at home.
