Hacienda Chan Chan - Farm Bungalow
Hacienda Chan Chan is a working dairy farm nestled in the mountains North of Cuenca near the picturesque village of Chiquintad. We milk roughly 30 cows on 90 hectares, which leaves lots of room for hiking and exploring. The bungalow is a cozy wooden cabin with two bedrooms, including a lofted bed with a skylight for star gazing. The living room includes an efficient wood stove to warm the chilly nights. We no longer offer breakfast or any meals. Please bring food to cook. The bungalow is a rustic cabin, outfitted with all of the necessities to make your stay comfortable. There is a small cook stove and refrigerator for our guests. Guests have access to all 90 hectares of our farm. You can explore our river bottom, park like, dairy grazing fields, or climb to over 3000 meters to take in the views of Cuenca. Our new host, Christian, will be available if you have any issues. Although he lives in Cuenca, he will be on call to help you if needed. We are 30 to 40 minutes from downtown Cuenca. There are also about 10 to 15 minutes (6 km) of forest and mountains between our farm and the nearest town of Chiquintad. We recommend guests come for the hiking, relaxing and nature. We are about 6 km from the village of Chiquintad. Chiquintad can be reached by bus number 26 from Cuenca or by taxi. (A taxi from Cuenca to Chiquintad is roughly 5 to 6 dollars.) Local drivers are sometimes available that can pick you up in Cuenca and bring you directly to the farm. They charge between $10 and $15. The farm is located at just under 3000 meters. It can get cool at night and you should bring warm clothing. Depending on the season it can be rainy, so you may want rain jackets and water proof shoes for hiking around the farm. Regarding pets, we do not allow them.
