The space Located just a couple of minutes’ walk from Dolgellau town centre, this traditional Welsh cottage is ideally placed for easy access to local shops, cafes and pubs, many of which welcome dogs with well‑behaved owners. The cottage offers a comfortable and welcoming space, combining original character with modern conveniences — an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia, Cader Idris and the Mawddach Trail. The accommodation is as follows: Ground floor: You enter into a cosy lounge with smart TV and log burner. From October to April, the log burner is ready to light, with enough logs provided for an evening. The cottage also features a fully fitted kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and washer‑dryer. A welcome pack is provided, including laundry and dishwasher tablets and other essentials. The modern bathroom features a spacious rainfall shower, with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap supplied for your stay. First Floor: Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, each with award‑winning Emma mattresses and Egyptian cotton bed linen. The main bedroom also features a character fireplace and smart TV — a perfect space to unwind after a day exploring the countryside. Comfort & Essentials: Free Wi‑Fi Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels included Dog Friendly Stays: One small, well‑behaved dog is welcome at Gwenallt. Please note that dogs must not be left unattended in the cottage. Other things to note Location & activities Dolgellau is steeped in history and was formerly the county town of Merionethshire. Its main bridge over the Afon Wnion dates back to 1638, and the town’s narrow streets and squares reflect its rich past. The start of the flat Mawddach Trail — following the old railway line to the seaside town of Barmouth — is less than five minutes from the front door. Dolgellau is also the nearest town to Coed y Brenin Mountain Bike Centre, with Antur Stiniog and Llechwedd offering further adventure activities including zip lines and underground experiences. The area is well placed for river and lake fishing, with over 13 miles of fishing on the Mawddach and Wnion rivers. Sea fishing is also accessible along Cardigan Bay. Angling permits and local guides can be arranged on request. Nearby towns and places to explore include Barmouth (10 miles), Harlech (21 miles), Aberdyfi (23 miles), Blaenau Ffestiniog (23 miles), Porthmadog (25 miles), Caernarfon (43 miles) and Llandudno (52 miles).
