The Duck's Nest at North View Cottages is a 2-bedroom cottage with it's own walled garden, within the grounds of our smallholding & landscaped wildlife gardens. Wander through the gardens from your private dining terrace, passing through the orchard & smallholding field to reach our private meadow, with outstanding views of the hills & dales. Perfect for a picnic! On your way back, stop to feed the ducks on the pond or chat to the farm chickens & pick some apples or plums from the orchard for your tea. The cottage has a beautiful, cozy lounge with log-burner & dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms (one king & one single) and a full bathroom. Free WiFi & internet enabled TV, piles of magazines & books, plus a stocked larder & fabulous gift basket full of local artisan products. Whilst the cottage is self catering, we know that sometimes you just want to stay in and not cook! So we also offer the option to order evening sharing platters, cooked or continental breakfasts & fresh farm produce from our smallholding: eggs, bacon, sausages, jams & chutneys. We are dog-friendly, and there are footpaths in all directions from the door, plus a dog-friendly pub serving outstanding food, award-winning tearoom (also dog-friendly) and shop/bakery all within a 2 minute stroll. Ideally positioned between the lovely market towns of Richmond & Barnard Castle, it's a perfect location for exploring all that the Yorkshire Dales and County Durham have to offer: castles, abbeys, cathedrals & museums; waterfalls, stunning coastline, vibrant cities & quaint villages. Can be booked alongside Crofters' Cottage at North View, to sleep up to 7 people. Guest access You have your own private cottage, with its own front door opening to the village, and rear door straight into your private, walled garden. You will have the code for the driveway gate so you can park securely & come and go as you please. The grounds, including the gardens, meadow, orchard & paths, are on a slope & can be uneven & slippery. There is secure driveway parking for one car. The driveway is not suitable for caravans & longer vehicles. There is ample additional parking in the quiet village road, if required. We are a working farm so the animals & farm produce will vary during the year.
