The space Accessed via a pathway from the High Street, this brick-and-flint cottage oozes romantic charm with beamed ceilings, stone floors and original fireplaces. It’s been lovingly renovated with superb attention to detail and lots of creature comforts. Downstairs, an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner forms the heart of the home. Rustle up home-cooked treats in the modern, fitted kitchen, then settle around the breakfast bar or dine alfresco in the pretty courtyard garden. This is a delightful spot for a sundowner in the salty sea air before adjourning to the sofa to catch up with your favourite TV series or curl up with a book before bed. As night falls, head up the cottage-style stairs to find a warm and cosy king-size bedroom, and start each day with a rejuvenating soak in the ground-floor shower room. Cley next the Sea is a magical base for exploring the region, with its famous windmill, galleries, independent boutiques, selection of eateries and expansive shingle beach. Walkers can pick up the Norfolk Coast Path and Peddars Way in either direction from the town. Keen birdwatchers will be drawn to Cley Marshes to observe rare wading birds and will find more nature at RSPB Titchwell (20 miles) and Blakeney Point (1.5 miles), home to a grey seal colony. It’s also perfect for exploring the seaside towns of Sheringham (8 miles) and Wells-next-the-Sea (9.5 miles).
