Beautiful cottage in Hathersage
Beautiful cottage in Hathersage
Description
Welcome to my home, Willow Cottage in the lovely village of Hathersage in the Peak District National Park. The cottage, one of a terrace, was built in 1834 by George Downing. It has proper industrial revolution soot on it from the mill that was across the road and still has its original fireplace. The decor is mostly vintage, but is run by Alexa. The cottage is very close to the village shops, pubs and restaurants, and the railway station. There is a small garden, it is not secure for pets The space The cottage has been extensively refurbished, with new boiler, new kitchen, new bathroom and new Karndean vinyl flooring throughout. The new kitchen includes a washer (drying racks also available), freezer, fridge, hob and Instant Pot (air fry, pressure cook and slow cooker). New bathroom has a bath and powerful shower, with refillable toiletries. Much of the furniture is vintage - the sofa is new and so is the double bed in the main bedroom. Most utilities are controlled by Alexa - the lights, the heating and the radio. There is an electric stove in the fireplace, and a smart fan heater as well as central heating and combi boiler. The cottage is cosy and can be a bit spidery at times. Guest access You can use all of the cottage, the second bedroom has my stuff in it. There is fast broadband, so you can work here if you wish. The Smart TV has Netflix, Prime, iPlayer, ITVX and has a DVD player with a selection of DVDs. You are welcome to read the books and play the records on the record player. There is a selection of local guidebooks including walks, and I can advise on trips and local transport. You are welcome to sit outside in the garden if the weather allows. Other things to note Parking is a challenge anywhere in the Peak District, so if you can come by train and use public transport, you may find that easiest. There is on street parking outside the cottage, a lot of hikers and visitors use it too. I can provide cables and chargers, towels, shampoo etc to save you having to carry it, so cutting down on packing.
