(1 bedroom, 1 bathroom) The space Bryn-y-Gof (Blacksmith’s Hill) is a romantic seaside retreat full of cosy characters just 10 minutes from Llangrannog on Cardigan Bay. Traditional yet cosy, Bryn-y-Gof is set in a 7 acre meadow on the edge of a tiny rural hamlet, a tranquil setting with stunning views. This area is full of the most spectacular wildlife including seals, dolphins and red kites. The wildflowers are a real sight to behold too and the coastline is truly stunning. Bryn-y-Gof is the perfect base from which to explore this unspoilt haven. You can walk through ancient Bluebell Woods to Cwmtydu and Seal Beach. Join the coastal path and head south along the spectacular coast path to Llangrannog or north to the pretty fishing village of New Quay. The spacious cottage has beautiful high beamed ceilings and large windows to make the most of the spectacular scenery that surrounds. The beautiful oak staircase is steeper pitch than a normal staircase so care must be taken at all times. In the large, light and airy bedroom you can lie in the bath and watch the foxes as they play about in the field opposite, watch your favourite film or just enjoy the crackling of the fire with a nice glass of wine At least 10 stunning beaches can be found within 15 minutes of the cottage along with castles, historic sites and market towns. There are miles of cycle routes and the Cardi Bach (the hail and ride coastal bus service) passes the cottage door. Take a boat trip from New Quay or just sit on a deserted beach and watch for dolphins and seals. Enjoy the relaxed friendly hospitality of this beautiful area. Visit the local farm shop or the local produce market to stock up on award winning local food and drinks. A warm welcome awaits at the local pubs and restaurants serving great local food and ales too. ACCOMMODATION Bryn-y-Gof sleeps 2 plus a baby in 1 bedroom: 1 king size UPSTAIRS Bedroom: king size antique brass and iron bed, chair, wardrobe, TV/DVD player, roll top slipper bath, open fireplace En suite shower room: shower, antique washstand, wash basin, WC, washing machine DOWNSTAIRS Lounge: large inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, oak floors, beamed ceiling, 3-seater couch, armchairs, TV/DVD/CD player/iPod Dock Kitchen/diner: well equipped with handmade oak kitchen, quarry tiled floor, ceramic top cooker, fridge with icebox, microwave, antique dining table with dining chairs OUTSIDE Large enclosed patio area with table chairs, parasol and sun loungers as well as a BBQ. From the patio you have access to the beautiful 7 acre meadow which you are free to roam. A short walk along the lane brings you to a woodland path which follows the stream through the valley to Cwmtydu. KEY FACTS -Bed linen, towels, tea towels and bath mat provided -Travel cot, highchair and stair gates available. -Please bring your own cot bedding -Oil central heating -Heating and electricity included -First basket of logs provided -Free WiFi -2 well behaved dogs welcome -No smoking Other things to note Pre arrival On receipt of deposit we issue comprehensive directions to Bryn-y-Gof (by car) The nearest Airport is Cardiff (2.5 hours), 4 hour drive from Heathrow Airport Trains: We are equidistant from Aberystwyth and Carmarthen train stations (approx. 30 miles) Buses: For onward public transport from the train station please check out the traveline-cymru website for bus timetables Our local taxi company is TAR Cars Free internet, both WiFi and wired Arrival and car parking Private parking is available directly outside the cottage. A short path leads to 2 steps into the cottage There is gated access through to the side and rear patio with 1 step down to the main entrance door. In the entrance lobby there is a step down to the French doors into the lounge/kitchen/diner (all on one level). Inside The cottage was built in 1900 and has not been designed with wheelchair use in mind The stair case is a steeper pitch than normal so may not be suitable for those with mobility restrictions. Care must be taken at all times on the stairs. Please call for advice if you are unsure of suitability The bedroom is large with king size bed (access both sides and a roll top slipper bath From the bedroom there is a door and 1 step down into the en-suite shower room TV has remote control and Teletext and we will do our best to provide large print versions of cottage information subject to advance notice. We are happy to assist Outside Directly outside main entrance door is a level patio area where the bins/composting etc are all stored One step up to the main well-furnished patio area which catches the sun all-day A couple of steps up to a terrace with bench to catch late evening sun Access to the 7 acre meadow is via a stepover stile but we can arrange access via a gateway a short walk away should you require this The main patio is fairly secure for dogs but we can't guarantee that a determined pooch may not escape! House rules for dogs • Pets must NEVER be left unattended in the cottage • Pets must NEVER be allowed upstairs or in Bathrooms or Bedrooms or on furniture • You will have to clean up after your dog at all times all around our grounds. Arrival: Private parking is available directly outside the cottage. Eco-friendly features Renovated using sustainable products e.g. lime, lime-wash, reclaimed wood, Welsh oak, etc As much as possible is purchased locally including furnishings, etc Eco switches on heating and hot water supplies Eco cleaning products used and provided such as Ecover washing up-liquid, Ecover toilet cleaner, recycled toilet paper, etc Full recycling and composting facilities All firewood is sourced from a sustainable source, either the waste material from a fencing company or from our own woodland management We have an on-going tree-planting project at Dolphin Bay Cottages. To date just under 1,000 trees have been planted.
