Relax with family and friends at a Northwoods retreat. The cabin is a newer build at the end of a quiet road near the start line for the Prince Haakon cross country ski race. It can accommodate large groups with as many as 12 in the cabin on beds and pull out furniture (plus a bunkhouse). Connect to CAMBA mountain bike and American Birkebeiner Nordic ski trails from the front door, through private trails and the Mosquito Brook trailhead. Enjoy the screen porch and comfortable accommodations! The space Haakon House is located on a 3 acre plot in The Brooks development which is 5 miles from the town of Hayward. Kayak on the Namekagon River starting at the Trout Run boat landing 1 mile away. Connect to the 14k of hiking/biking/skiing trails within the development at the end of the driveway, which contains routes to the Mosquito Brook trailhead for mountain biking and Nordic skiing. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs! Cozy up to the fireplace, which is a wood stove that runs on propane. Take advantage of fast 1GB fiber optic internet for your work needs and two smart tvs (use your own login information to login into your favorite apps; no local channels)! The house makes efficient use of space and has two bathrooms with showers to accommodate larger groups. The upper bedroom suite boasts a king bed with inviting natural light, private bathroom, and walk in closet. The lower bedroom contains a twin over queen bunk bed. In the living room is a pullout couch with a queen bed, a really cool ottoman that folds out to a single bed, and a futon converting to a single bed. The loft has a futon folding out to a queen bed as well as a chair folding out to a single bed. Plenty of room for everyone! A seasonal bunkhouse is also on the property. Haakon House has heating and air conditioning. There are multiple sources for heat, including in-floor heat and a propane fireplace downstairs, electric baseboard heat upstairs, and a mini-split system on both levels with settings for air conditioning, supplemental heating, dehumidifying, and a fan. Outside is newer landscaping, a fire pit, and a crushed rock patio area with a charcoal grill and dining area. Outdoor games are available on the property as well. Guest access Guests will have access to the whole house (with the exception of the closet under the stairs). Contact the host if access to the bunkhouse is desired.
