Description

Welcome to The Shelley Tiny House! We are just outside of the city limits in Shelley Idaho. At only 450 square feet, the inside is small but the panoramic views are huge. This house sits on its own 1-acre lot for your privacy. It is perfect for up to 5 guests. Not available? Check out our Idaho Falls Tiny House just a few miles to the north off of Sunnyside Rd! The space Did you know this house has a twin? Next time check out the Idaho Falls Tiny House. ABOUT THIS HOUSE At only 450 square feet, you’ll still enjoy all the luxuries of a full-sized home without sacrificing comfort. This newly constructed tiny house is perfect for up to 5 guests. On top of a volcanic butte in Shelley, this one-bedroom tiny home has views to die for. We are only a couple of miles south of Idaho Falls. If your plans include visiting Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Island Park, Heise Hot Springs, or Lava Hot Springs, we are close enough for a day trip. THE SPACE As you enter the front door, the small living room is furnished with a couch and stools facing a 42” flatscreen TV to relax and enjoy time with family or friends. The kitchen is nearby with a small dining table, bench, and chairs. The one bathroom is just off the kitchen with a full bath and vanity. The stairs near the front entrance lead to a queen bed to the left, which faces a 42” flatscreen TV. There are two twin beds to the right and a small sleeping nook above the stairs. Please keep in mind this is a tiny house. While the house sits on its own 1-acre lot, the interior space is small. If interior space is important to you, this may not be the best fit. The only thing that we couldn’t fit into our tiny house is a dishwasher. Guest access The house and 1 acre lot are all yours. The garage is off limits because we use it for storage and to house the utility/mechanical room. Other things to note You might have noticed that this house is built on top of a butte in the middle of the Snake River Plain. It is actually an extinct volcano! If you look to the west on a clear day you can see several larger volcanic buttes in the desert near the DOE site and Arco Idaho. The Shelley Tiny House sits about 70 feet above the valley floor. As soon as we started to excavate we hit solid lava rock. What else would you expect on top of an old volcano? Basements are common in Idaho but we had to build up, not down. We did drill a well that reaches 200 feet down into the Snake River Aquifer. You will never taste water more pure than ours. From December to April, we have a couple hundred cows that come to winter across the street. You are truly living the country life when you visit our tiny house in Shelley. The windmills to our east are new. They are the latest addition to about 100 more windmills that stretch north to the outskirts of Ririe Idaho. We don’t need the electricity because we have several hydroelectric dams on the Snake River. Most of the energy that the windmills make is sent out of state to energize our neighbors.
