Rock Cottage is a centuries-old, charming and carefully curated, boutique cottage offering a relaxing retreat for up to four guests, on the edge of the Peak District. Nestled high amongst a woodland, cliffside landscape, within the Conservation Area of Matlock Dale, lies Rock Valley. Just on the edge of town, yet hidden from view, it is the perfect blend of escape and convenience. Your cosy nook to call home for a while. The space A cosy cottage ideal for couples, or families / friends of up to four. Children under 8 are to be accompanied by an adult whilst in the garden and surrounding landscape of the cottage. OUTSIDE / GARDENS Surrounded by woodland and terraced gardens, the large outdoor space creates a fairy-tale atmosphere. During the warmer months, make the most of the outdoor space, with the bistro breakfast nook, perfect for that morning coffee and valley views. There is also a summerhouse, designed for warmer evenings to sit and relax in with a drink or two. Switch on the festoon lights for a warm glow. From the gardens, take in the view of the magnificent Riber Castle and High Tor. If walking / hiking is to your liking, there is a Public Footpath right next to Rock Cottage. After a good days hike, kick off your boots and any wet / muddy gear in the designated Boot Room, equipped with washer and dryer, clothes drying hooks and electric shoe warmer. INSIDE / DOWNSTAIRS Be greeted by the cosy living area with log burning stove (wood, kindling and matches are provided). Sit in the deep window seat and read a book or enjoy the gardens. From the living area is the kitchen / dining area. Fully equipped to satisfy any home cook, with a range of cooking utensils and pans. Dine using the vintage Denby Pottery. INSIDE / UPSTAIRS Go to bed in comfort, with luxurious linens and king size Emma mattress in the master bedroom. Wake up to bird song and the magnificent view of Riber Castle. The smaller bedroom hosting two single beds, also with luxurious linens and woodland view. The bathroom is fully equipped with a bathtub and a powerful shower. Enjoy complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body wash / bubble bath by Miniml. Use the soft bath and hand towels by Christy. Also boasting a woodland view. Other things to note Designated free parking / on-street free parking is located approximately 100 yards away from Rock Cottage. It is a reasonable incline up to Rock Valley, so please be careful when arriving during wet / icy / dark weather. There are wooden signposts to follow and a solar lit footpath (on darker days, a torch may also be required). Please note the incline to get to Rock Cottage, for any guest who might struggle with mobility. Please also note that currently there may be some minor noise disturbance from a building site nearby, which operates Monday to Friday during working hours.
