This home has stood by the sea since the late 1800s, shaped by weather, tides and generations before you. Carefully restored, it blends original timber walls with modern comfort. Large windows open towards mountains and open water, letting light and silence set the pace of your stay. With three bedrooms, generous living space and an outdoor hot tub under open skies, this is a place to slow down, reconnect, and experience Lofoten at its most calm and authentic. The space Gammelstua is quietly located at Straumnes in Rolvsfjord, just 20 metres from the shoreline. Set on a secluded part of the estate and facing south-west, the house enjoys long light, open views and a strong sense of privacy. Carefully restored and extended, it offers modern comfort while remaining deeply connected to its surroundings. Rolvsfjord lies in the heart of Lofoten, on southern Vestvågøy, with easy access to Leknes Airport (LKN) and the coastal port of call. From here, mountains, sea and open landscapes are always close. On-site photo guiding and selected nature-based activities are available depending on season and weather — please ask us for the current activity menu. Fishing opportunities are excellent, with a salmon and sea trout stream just 50 metres from the front deck. Lofoten Golf Links is a short drive away. In summer, the midnight sun can be experienced from the surrounding mountains. In winter, northern lights often appear quietly just outside the lodge. Guest access Guests have full access to the house and the surrounding outdoor areas. The property is set back from other buildings, offering space, privacy and a strong sense of calm. Currently, guests can enjoy the outdoor wood-fired hot tub and fishing in the saltwater current just below the house. The current is part of the fjord’s natural rhythm, where sea trout and salmon pass through with the tides. The property is part of a living farm and fjord landscape. We live on site and have a deep connection to this place — our children are the 13th generation growing up in this fjord, and the host is the grandchild of both fishermen and farmers. This heritage shapes how the land is cared for and shared. Several elements are under development and will be introduced gradually, including a wood-fired sauna, an electrically heated hot tub, photo guiding, circular food production, and the opportunity to take part in simple farm activities. All offerings are guided by the seasons, weather and the everyday life of the farm. The shoreline below the house is rich in marine life. In calm conditions, harvesting green sea urchins may be possible by arrangement and at your own responsibility. We are always happy to share knowledge about the place, the fjord and its rhythms — and equally respectful of guests who prefer complete privacy. Other things to note If you are booking on behalf of someone else, that is absolutely fine. We kindly ask that you let us know in advance, so we can ensure that the arriving guests receive all relevant and practical information about the stay and the destination upon arrival. In the past, we have experienced situations where guests arrived without sufficient information, which unfortunately led to unnecessary challenges at the beginning of their stay — simply because we were not aware that the person we had been communicating with beforehand was not the guest themselves.
