Our original plan was to turn the whole place into a vacation rental, but as we restored it, we fell in love. We now live upstairs and rent out the private apartment on the ground floor. We call it Casa Taína, in honor of the vibrant Taíno community that once thrived in this region before the arrival of the spaniards. The apartment is a cozy, air-conditioned one-bedroom with a sofa bed in the living room. It’s peaceful and private, with no immediate neighbors—yet close enough to the ocean that the waves will lull you to sleep and the birds will greet you in the morning. You’ll have a full kitchen with a range and oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, and a dining table for four. A washer is available outside for your convenience. We’re happy to welcome you in person and are available for any help or guidance during your stay, though we also respect your privacy. In our effort to be eco-conscious, we’ve installed a sustainable sewage system (please, no non-organic items in the toilet), added solar power with battery backup so you won’t experience blackouts, and provide a Brita filter jug so you don’t need to buy bottled water. Guest access You’ll have access to the front yard, on-site parking for two cars, your private first-floor apartment, and a private terrace with a lounge area and laundry facilities. Other things to note Please note: overnight stays are limited to registered guests only. We offer a 50-amp, 240V charger for electric vehicles—perfect for EV travelers. No keys to worry about! Enjoy secure, keyless entry to both the main gate and your private apartment. The house runs on solar energy and includes a battery backup system to prevent blackouts. In the rare case of an outage at night, the bedroom air conditioner will continue to run, but the living room unit should be turned off. Thankfully, the apartment tends to stay cool at night. We have two friendly German Shepherds, Gaia and Max. While they love people, we keep them in a large pen behind the house during guest stays to ensure peace and privacy unless you feel comfortable with dogs.
