Cottage 15 is a lovely rustic cottage with one king bed, a full bath with shower, A/C, mini-fridge, cable, television, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, coffee pot, microwave, and free Wi-Fi. As with all guests who join our Ohana, there is full access to the indoor kitchen downstairs in the main building, the outdoor kitchen and grill, full access to the common use hot tub, and the bonfire pit on the back lawn. The space Cottages at The Open Hearth Inn are a rustic but private little base camp for all of your Acadia Adventures. These cabins (9 in total) have been on the property since sometime in the 50s and although they are 'vintage' in nature, they are a comfortable trip back in time ;). Just a mile away from the first picnic area in the park and the welcome centre, this property is the ultimate budget option for a place to stay while you play. The basis of the Open Hearth Inn is the main house, built in the 1820's it's best known for its historic charm. One of 20 rooms and everyone has plenty of space to stretch outside, gather in the old hearth room and play some board games, stretch out on the couch and watch movies on the common use 70" tv, make some new friends, and explore the real reason we call it 'Ohana'. Guest access Located on Route 3 at the head of Mount Desert Island, The Open Hearth Inn is 12 miles to Bar Harbor, 9 miles to Acadia National Park, 15 miles to Bass Harbor Head Light, 12 miles to Southwest Harbor, 8 miles to Ellsworth, 35 miles to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park, 36 miles to Bangor, 65 miles to Camden and 163 miles to Portland. The Bar Harbor Hancock County Airport is a half-mile up the road. The Open Hearth Inn makes a great home base for day trips around Downeast Maine and the coastal beauties such as Mount Desert Island (MDI). Other things to note Pet Policy: Here at Open Hearth Inn we welcome your four-legged family member. However, we ask you to help us with the following pet rules while staying with us. 1. Please don't leave your pet in the rooms unattended. Why? Because they miss you and from our experience of being professional hosts since the 90's, when they are lonely they howl or bark causing others to lose the quiet enjoyment on the property. Lonely pets also use the bed or other furniture to snuggle on while you are away. This is super tough for our housekeepers to remedy because blankets or comforters need to be washed or replaced, also furnishings can take hours to remove hair from so we can present a clean space for the next guest. Maine is a very pet friendly place and since you brought them on vacation we hope you keep them with you so they can enjoy "Vacation Land" as much as humans do. 2. Please pick up all the poop/excrement they may have. 3. Please have your pup on a leash when enjoying the common areas. 4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking. We have dog treats, extra poo bags and a water bowl in the common room. *There will be an additional cleaning fee charged if your pet makes a mess of the room or the bedding.
