There is a large fenced and walled garden with further seating to the front and side of the barn, with access from the small patio via some fairly steep stone steps, or avoiding the steps (for elderly dogs perhaps) via a gate on level ground. A maximum of two well behaved dogs are welcome. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or upstairs - a stairgate is provided at the bottom of the stairs. Please keep dogs on a lead when on our property, unless in the fenced off garden for the barn. It is not uncommon to have sheep wandering up our drive and I would hate for one to be chased or attacked by an over excited dog. Washing Machine available by arrangement. Guest access Access is via a key safe, so checking in and out can be contact free. Other things to note We provide a welcome pack of logs for your first evening. Logs are available to buy in Settle and from local petrol stations. We are very happy to answer any questions during your stay via text, phone, email, and Airbnb messages, but ask that you avoid coming to our door except for emergencies. This is mainly because we have a rescue dog who can be quite anxious of strangers and we would like to keep distress to him at a minimum. When in the garden, or out and about, we are happy to have as little or as much contact as guests would like (our dog is very friendly once he has had a chance to say hello!). We try to be as gentle on the planet as possible: heating and hot water are provide by a ground source heat pump; we use eco-friendly zero waste products where possible; we leave you a small welcome bottle of creamy oat milk and some plant-based cakes/treats; we ask that you recycle as much of your rubbish as possible; and we provide an electric car charging point to be paid for by guests. There is no mobile phone reception at the barn although a mobile signal is available a few hundred yards up the hill. If your mobile phone supports Wi-Fi calling then making and receiving calls and texts is not a problem as the Wi-Fi is fast and reliable. Alternatively, apps such as Messenger and Whats-App can be used to make and receive calls and messages.
