Farm Life Refresh!
Description
This 1940 brick farm house was built by my grandfather and tobacco was grown for years. He owned and operated the White Swann Trading Post and grill until his passing. We consider ourselves fortunate and enjoy sharing the beauty and wonder of this place with our family and now you. Today it is in transition from having been a sheep farm. In addition to nice walking and outdoor hangout spots on the 83 acres there is a 9 acre lake where you may enjoy fishing + non motorized boating! Welcome! The space This warm and welcoming home has been tastefully decorated and equipped and includes some precious "been in our family for years" furnishings and decor items. Because most of the tables are wood, we ask that everyone use coasters for their glasses and cups. There are two main floor bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a futon sofa which can be set up as a bed if requested. It is a twin and has a comfortable foam topper. There is a full bathroom with tub/shower at the end of the hall. The third bedroom is on the second floor and is a studio style space with a California king and a futon sofa which is ordinarily made up as a double bed. There is also a full bathroom upstairs. There is a dining area that seats six and a living room that will comfortably seat 7. The enclosed porch is a nice hang out space too, but can get very hot in the summer. It does not have central air. There is a very small air conditioner. The back porch does have twin bed and a small sofa. Since it is not heated and cooled, this space is not listed as a bedroom space. This home is set on 83 acres, there are areas outside where you. There are also friends and family who have permission to enjoy the lake, which is about a north of the house and is reachable by foot in about ten minutes. For liability reasons guests are asked to not swim in the lake. We wish we could offer it, but there is too much risk. All fenced in areas are strictly off limits to guests and the field to the southeast of the lake has a beehive and so is also strictly off limits. You might see wildlife such as deer or turkey and they are for your enjoyment, but hunting is strictly prohibited. There is a very old a dilapidated building that is also strictly off limits including its perimeter. It is slated for demolition. Since the home is used by family when not booked, you will find that there may be more food in the cabinets than you might ordinarily see in an Airbnb. All the main fridge other than door shelves will be completely empty for your food and the bottom shelf above the stove will also be empty. There are thermostats in two locations. The main floor hall and upstairs against the back wall. When you pull into the driveway you will see an rv on the left. It belongs to Vicky’s brother. It is waiting on repairs and not occupied. Behind and slightly south of the dilapidated building there is a vintage motorhome. We use it for storage. Lastly, there is another motorhome on the south end of the lake, which Vicky and her husband use on rare occasion. You will be notified should the motorhome on the south end of the lake will be occupied at any point during your stay, but it is a rare occurrence. The other motorhomes will never be occupied during your stay. Guest access The whole house, the driveway and the lake. No swimming is permitted in the lake, however you are welcome to use the paddle boat at your own risk. Other things to note There may be times that my husband and I or others will be staying on the south or east side of the lake. We will let you know if this is the case during your stay. There may be a stop to fill the water tank at the house, but no one will need access to the inside of the house or will share use of the hot tub during your stay. Should you cross paths with anyone on the property, then please introduce yourselves as Airbnb guests.
