La Serenidad
Estate comprising a main house for 6 and a bungalow for 2 both with access to main garden, & pool. 4 bedrooms total, each with private bath, two fully equipped kitchens, dining room, lounge, gardens, terraces, 6.5 by 16.5 ft pool with outdoor shower, garage with golf cart charging option and reliable internet. Included cleanings during your stay! (Mostly) quiet neighbourhood but on a side road that can be noisy. 6 minutes walk to the central square, another minute to the main beach. The space With its interweaving indoor and outdoor spaces, the design of the house combines traditional mediterranean architecture with american and tropical buildings. Every room opens to two opposing sides allowing a breeze to go through. Almost all rooms have access to outdoor space, be it a garden, a terrace, or at least a balcony. All downstairs rooms open to outdoor spaces on both sides. The bungalow is one open space with an indoor garden and a private outdoor space. Guest access Both houses, gardens, and pool are your's alone in their entirety. No space at all is shared with anyone else. There‘s a service room adjacent to the kitchen that we‘d ask you not to enter, all other spaces are open for you. Other things to note Quiet use only — PLEASE NOTE The house is sited in a usually quiet residential area, and we live in another house on the premise ourselves. Please refrain from loud partying at all times, and respect sleeping hours after 10 o’clock in the evening. Please understand that even shouting and very loud talking by the pool or on the terraces may make it hard for all around to sleep. ——— NOROVIRUS: You may have come across reports of the 2024 Norovirus outbreak in Sayulita. There has been such an outbreak, mainly in February. It appears to be receding for some time now. We assembled a small list of simple hygiene recommendations, most of which are recommendable in Mexico at any given moment. Following them, we ourselves live here and none of us got sick. The same applies to the last groups of guests we had. Understandably, those who write about on public web sites. it are mainly those who got sick and are angry. I don’t mean to accuse them of being careless—accidents happen. What I do mean to say is that Sayulita life is possible without falling ill. We are happy to provide said hygiene guide to potential guests and all others alike, just ask. ——— Amenities (in addition to those on the airbnb list): — beach towels — coffee makers, both french presses and proper moka pots (Italian stovetop) — dish washer — USB power outlets, two on each night stand and more. Just ask. SERVICED LAUNDRY ONLY: The washers are not accessible to our guests directly (due to repeated incidents of damage by guests). We are happy to wash, dry and fold your laundry for you between 10 am and 2 pm except Sundays. Wifi Strong and reliable internet access, with some 50 Mbps downstream, 25 Mbps upstream on average (see test results in image section). Even on power outage, access persists for about an hour due to no-break power supply for router and LAN. Cleaning Service We offer free of charge cleaning about every second day at an hour of your convenience (roughly between 10am and 3pm). (On rare occasions, this may not be possible due to sickness or some other severe cause—we’re not a hotel with a big staff). This is not mandatory. If you prefer us not coming in, we will provide a cleaning kit, new towels and bed sheets etc. from the outside. There is one exception: To water the plants on the upper terraces and rear gardens, our gardener will have to come through once a day. He will however never come unannounced. Garage Doors lock, fits cars up to 16.4 ft long, 9.8 wide, and 6,5 high (or a little bit more). Water For drinkable water, we have a filtered water tap (dedicated faucet) in the kitchen. Ice cubes in the fridge are equally filtered (the fridge has its own water filter). Beds — Duvets instead of blankets (and really there hasn’t been anyone yet who didn’t prefer those over a woollen blanket with a sheet). Choose between a king size single duvet for two or two individual duvets each. — We can split one of the three double beds into two single beds if you prefer that, same goes for the bed in the smaller house. Just let us know. Kids Children are most welcome. We provide two high chairs and two pack’n’play beds, also some beach toys. If you have any special needs beyond that, feel free to ask. (Mind that stairs and pool are unsecured as of now—securing the pool all around would be a mayor alteration and hindersome to most usual pool activities, and as most parents don’t see a need for it, we decided we would leave it as is.) Power Sometimes in summertime (and of late, if rarely, also in winter), village- or part-village wide power outages happen. The rarely last very long and seldom happen over night but they do happen. Sometimes they are related to hurricanes, sometimes not. They can be a nuisance particularly at sleeping hours when it is very warm and both air conditioning and fans seize to work. If it happens, it usually helps a bit that each bedroom has windows on opposing sides, wich so open provides some air flow. Not an option during hurricanes though. We provide a sheet explaining what (else) to do in case of an outage (and/or hurricane). We also provide a no break technology to keep the internet running for some time in the case of shorter outages. Please understand that we are (so far) unable to help with emergency power generators as they are quite expensive and would necessitate higher rents. Pool Salted water, not heated and in shadow most of the time, so in winter, it can be a bit cold. Insects The house is surrounded by gardens, smaller and larger ones, and sited in tropical jungle, not in a city. If we don’t either pave or poison everything, sometimes some critters come in (ants mainly, also other insects and beetles, but they come from forest and garden, not from garbage and indoor nests, and as garden insects, they are harmless albeit apalling to some), particularly during rain season (summer). We do however provide two types of anti-insect spray, cinnamon and chemical, and if you are bothered by ants, let us know, we can additionally set up traps. Noise Please note that this is not a resort but an actual Mexican village. Noisy vehicles do pass by, a dog sometimes barks, at some point there may be some construction work two lots down the road, and on rare occasions, people party in the neighbourhood (we go try and stop them if that happens). But in fact, on many occasions it is very quiet. But we can’t promise total silence all the time. (One more thing: The lot behind our house has been sold some time ago. It is huge, comprising the entire slope, and there’s already a house sitting on its upper end. Still, it’s possible that at some point, something will be built there, in which case there would be construction work audible. It would likely be faint in the garden, but the bedroom windows all open to both sides and would hear more of the noise if there is any. In fact, no place in Sayulita can promise you that there won’t be a construction by the time of your arrival unless you book just a few days before your stay. I still like to point this out.) Check-In can in many cases be earlier than 4pm. When previous guests leave the same day as you check in, we may need the time to fully clean the house. In any case you can drop off your luggage ahead of check-in time. Yoga We offer private yoga classes on our rooftop with Diane from Wanderlust/Sayulita, a yoga alliance certified yoga instructor. She teaches vinyasa flow, power yoga, yin & restorative and can adapt to suit all levels, and she can provide mats and blocks. If you think you might be interested let us know. We’ll provide references if you like, and either put you in contact or schedule classes for you.
