The Goat Farm
The Goat Farm
Description
It's rare to find a place that's both historic and one-of-a-kind. Memory Farm is here to accomplish just that. An oasis for you and your family & friends to share an unforgettable experience on this 2.5 acre farm in the quaint village of Kaneville . Only an hour west of downtown Chicago, you'll feel as though you've time traveled back to the 1800's on this historic plot of land. Enjoy peace and quiet while relaxing in the company of goats and chickens on this 180 year old farm! The space **Please read in full prior to booking** The house was built in the 1840's and has space to comfortably fit a maximum of 14 guests. The 2.5 acre farm has many out-buildings/barns that you can use for small gatherings ie family reunions, birthday parties, baby showers & bridal flowers, yoga retreats, business events, wedding rehearsals, dancing/dinners etc. (28 person max *including Airbnb overnight guests* ie each airbnb guest can have one +1). Keep in mind this house is nearly 200 years old so it's not perfect, but on the other hand is exquisite because of its inherent imperfections. We hope you'll love it and treat it as though it was your great grandmothers home. The large barn is 2100sqft per floor and the smaller barn is 1000sqft. Your more than welcome to explore them or set up to dine, dance, meditate or conjugate. There is a 3 NIGHT MINIMUM for 5+ guests, a 4 NIGHT MINIMUM for 10+ guests and a 5 NIGHT MINIMUM for any gatherings with additional visitors as mentioned above. We set these minimums due to high costs of cleaning the farm and the amount of time it takes to handle laundry. Message me with questions or for details on minimums, we are always willing to negotiate! Especially for weekday bookings. There are also discounts for 1, 2 and 4 week stays. This is a dog friendly house (NO CATS), however please be respectful. Do not allow your dogs on the furniture or in any of the beds. If your dog sheds please make an extra effort to clean the fur before you leave. Be considerate of the next guests as we've hosted people that have allergies. Dogs should not enter bedrooms at all. You are welcome the explore the property in its entirety, just do not open any gates to where the animals stay. Enjoy picking and eating fresh apples and cherry tomatoes in the fall! DO NOT move or rearrange any furniture. Leave everything as close to how you found it as possible. If you do need to move something put it back. NO PARTIES are allowed without prior authorization from the owner. Re-read the minimum night requirements for overnight guests and +1's. If it is discovered that a party was had or that you have allowed additional overnight guests without the owner's knowledge additional fees will apply. THE KITCHEN: Recently we received feedback from a guest that an upgrade to our cookware would bring our space to the next level so we added the Cuisinart Chef's Classic 17-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set. S for those who like to cook enjoy the cooking in our kitchen! Guest access You'll have access to all parts of the farm except inside the goat pen & the chicken coop. Small tool/storage area (small barn) and the elevator shaft (located in the big barn) are also off limits for safety purposes Other things to note Please pet our goats as much as you like! They love the attention. They're names are as follows: 1. Dill (white with brown spots - the leader) 2. Sprout (largest black one with smaller head of white hair - the lover) 3. Pickle (smaller black one with thick head of white hair - the escape artist) 4. Bean (brown - the outcast) You can give them some hay from the coachhouse (white building next to the main house) or leaves from around the yard. You can also pull some large weeds or greenery from around the property and feed them that too. Also don't forget to say hi to the chickens! Their coop is towards the back of the property near the goat shack. Feel free to bring them any and all food scraps you may have. Message me if you're interested in collecting farm fresh eggs.
