Bluff Cottage. Cozy & Private Beach house for Two.

Welcome to our home. Built in 1856 the cottage is possibly the towns first ‘beach house’ having immediate access to not only the beach, but the magic view across Great Oyster Bay to the Freycinet Peninsula. Our home is a wonderful place to relax, either in the gardens or by the fire on cold Tassie nights! It’s a great place to stay for a few days and enjoy all that the east coast has to offer. The space Our house is unique and a lovely romantic getaway for a couple, especially relaxing by the fire. Some nights you will barely hear the sea and other nights you will be amazed by the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks and how close you really are to the beach. We also love to accomodate couples with a “little one” who deserve a break. Although this is a listing for couples, you can read the happy reviews from couples with “ crawlers” and “ pre -walkers”. We are more than happy to pop up our porta cot, Highchair , supply extra towels and face washers and a change mat, so that you can have a nice break away. We are also happy to help out “ besties “ who are travelling together who would like their own space but still would like to Airbnb instead of hotel. You Do you! Ask. Don’t be shy, send us a message! 🥰 The original stone cottage has the fireplace with wood heater, sitting and dining area. We consider the bedroom in the cottage to be the main bedroom. The extension carried out during the 1970’s was done during a time when summers in Tassie were long and hot, and all you needed for the summer holidays were your thongs (flip flops), swimming cozie, towel, zinc cream, areoguard and bbq. An era when people and kids spent much more time outdoors . In other words, this is not a big beach house. There is a small kitchen with the most amazing view of Great Oyster Bay and the Freycinet peninsula, otherwise known as the Hazards. You will definitely appreciate it whilst you make your breakfast, especially if you are up for the sunrise. Being so close to the beach you may see a dolphin or two whilst you make coffee! The two extra bedrooms are both cosy but comfortable. These will not be available during your stay as you are booking for two people ( unless you are doing the * bestie* option 💚. If you are booking with a “little person” , the children’s room will be set up accordingly ❤️. We are very flexible and want our guests to fully relax and recharge - what ever we can do to accomodate - just ask 🥰. It is small but is spotlessly clean and new. With this in mind, the cottage is best suited to just one couple or families. We have not made any structural changes to the original 1970s extension layout . Our home is modest but cosy, pleasant and cheerful. It is not a modern beach house by any stretch of the imagination. What we don’t have in mod cons is outweighed by being so close to the beach and the magnificent view and the feeling that you are ‘away from it all’. We hope you love it as much as we do! P.S - We have over 50 big french lavender bushes in our garden. We appreciate your understanding with this as not only is it just meant for “ Us”, the “ witches stairs” are steep. Other things to note Absolute beachfront and only a 10 min walk to local shops and restaurants. Penny makes her own bread and homemade biscuits and tries to stop Paul from eating them before it gets to the cottage 😝😝😝.
