The space Location & Access: The hacienda is located 35 km from Quito International Airport, with direct access via the Panamericana Norte E-35, approximately 1 hour by car. Before leaving the highway you will be able to see the Monument to the Middle of the World, as the property is very close to latitude 0°. The entrance to the hacienda is via a 150-meter private road, bordered by centuries-old eucalyptus trees. The property is surrounded by high walls and has a private gate, offering tranquility, privacy and security. It has a stable equipped for 10 horses and 1.5 hectares of fenced pastures, ideal for horse lovers. The Spanish colonial-style country house, with 700 m², open design and 6-meter high ceilings. Inside you will find contemporary art, spacious rooms with a fireplace and an interior patio perfect for enjoying outdoor meals. It has 8 bedrooms with blackout curtains, with capacity for more than 20 people, ideal for families, groups or retreats. Spacious 40 m² open kitchen with central island, two refrigerators and separate freezer. Dining room for 12 people with restored antique table. Surroundings: 10 minutes from Cayambe and 25 minutes from Otavalo, near Lake San Pablo and Cotacachi, renowned for their culture, nature and crafts. Amenities: Wi-Fi, grill, parking, satellite TV in the master bedroom, 24/7 support in Spanish and English, and additional services such as transportation, cleaning and fireplace lighting (at an additional cost). Outdoor games, supervised stable visits. Visit El Escondite del Venado, a tourist attraction that offers interaction with farm animals and deer just a 5-minute walk away. NOTE: A tip of USD 25 is kindly requested for the housekeeper (deliver it directly), who will be attentive and provide support throughout your stay. Guest access For the comfort and safety of all guests, certain areas of the property are not accessible during your stay. These include the backyard area where the dogs are located, the private studio/office situated at the back of the house, and the wine cellar. We kindly ask that these areas remain off-limits. All other main living spaces of the home are fully available for your enjoyment and comfort. Thank you for your understanding. Other things to note Driving on the Panamerican Norte E-35 Highway from the new Quito Airport into the Country House is extremely convenient; it’s a 35-kilometer (21-mile) from the Airport to the Country House door. Before you turn right to leave the highway onto the main country road leading to the Country House, you’ll notice the Equator monument on your right. The Country House is located just a few degrees from latitude 0° (zero degrees). The estate is only about 1-hour drive from Quito, which makes it very convenient for day trips. As you approach the driveway from the main country road, you will be greeted by the distinct smell of eucalyptus from the 100-year-old Eucalyptus trees, which are planted on both sides of the 150m (2,00ft) long driveway. This beautiful quaint estate is surrounded by tall (Ladrillo) brick walls and has a private gate entrance, which makes the place even more peaceful and private. The estate is located 10-minute drive from Cayambe, where the finest Bizcochos con queso de hoja and Dulce de Leche (local biscuits with mozzarella cheese and Dulce de leche) will tempt every visitor. You can do all your groceries in Cayambe. Drive 25 more minutes North and you arrive to Otavalo, one of the largest and Beautiful indigenous towns in Ecuador On your way to Otavalo you’ll go through the San Pablo Lake. The Lake has an area of 147.9 km2 (57 miles2) and an average temperature is 18oC, which makes it perfect for water sports. The famous city of Cotacachi for its leather goods and handicrafts is only 8 km (5 miles) from Otavalo and it's a great place to purchase very high quality leather jackets and other leather goods at very affordable prices. Visits to the above and other locations around the estate can be arranged with a private driver that we will organized for you (at an additional cost per day) or by a local travel agency, which arranges transportation and tours with a guide (also at an additional cost per day). There are also a number of great local restaurants that we strongly recommend to visit with fantastic food and spectacular ambiance.
