Description

Enjoy a restful break from a busy life, back in nature's arms. Stop look and listen to the wind blowing through the trees, the light glistening off the water and let the world go by. The hut is comfortable with modern facilities for short or long stays. Set in the countryside, in a wooded area which is surrounded by fields, beside Fairbourne Lake covering 4.8 acres. There is a further 3.2 acres of woodland on private land, to wander at your leisure. All not far from Romsey and the Test Valley. The space Lovingly built, from the chassis supplied by Toby Ireland of Lower Bridge Shepherd Huts of West Wellow, by it's owner and his sons, using locally sourced wood for the Chestnut cladding and the decking, and many of the internal features from locally sourced Cherry. Many other items within the hut are recycled, or reused and where possible, sourced locally. Whether you enjoy photography, painting, fresh air or just need a break from the "hum-drum" of life, we are here! Recorded as a Wild Fowl Sanctuary in 1962, Fairbourne Hut sits secluded on the West side of Fairbourne Lake (not stocked with fish), which covers 4.8 acres in natural surroundings, along with a multitude of wildlife, flora and fauna. The path on the East side will take you to The Moor, a wooded area of 3.25 acres to wander in. (We are in the process of building a bridge across the end of the lake to link both paths) Guest access Your accommodation is accessed through double gates to Fairbourne Cottage, along tarmaced drive. The hut is off the track, turning left onto a woodchipped path, you'll find it on the right, a parking area (in front of bins) alongside, park and make yourself at home! The hut is entirely yours for your stay, as are the paths surrounding the lake. Please feed the ducks/swans with the food provided but don't join them in the lake! Countryside rules apply. If you open the gate for access please close it behind you. The gate will be locked during the evening and over night, the code for the lock will be given on your arrival. Other things to note For every booking we will plant a tree in our woods! These are ones that have started growing but will not reach maturity given where they are. Our waste tank is fairly small, please remember when using water. An outside tap is available. Please do not put wipes down the toilet, a bin is provded. The owner is qualified in First Aid. Our bees have their hives further along the path from the hut. The lane to our gates has no street lighting. There are no local shops within half a mile of the hut.
