Other things to note The Philip Schneider House (PS House for short) is on the historical registry. It was built in 1866 for Philip "Granite" Schneider, Master of Transportation for the Union Army in the Civil War, and owner of a granite quarry whose signature pink granite was used to build 3 major St. Louis landmarks that are still standing: Eads Bridge (the first bridge to cross the Mississippi River and the first bridge in the world to use steel on a large scale), St. Louis City Hall, and the Old Post Office. Old homes are quirky, and so is the Soulard neighborhood. If you desire something more memorable, immersive, and experiential than your typical downtown hotel room, then this is your place. This is our home when we are in the city. If you decide to book the PS House, we ask that you treat our home with kindness and respect. We want our guests to have a good time, but we do not allow parties. This is for safety reasons as well as to maintain the integrity of the residential neighborhood. The maximum guest count will be enforced.
