Located just outside of Fairplay, the Aspen Patch is the epitome of a peaceful getaway. Our cozy home is privately nestled amongst 6 acres of aspen trees and wildflowers. A five minute drive into town provides easy access to shopping and food while passing by forest service access points. You'll want to unplug at the Aspen Patch but if you're looking to get some work done in the day or to watch your favorite show at night we have high speed fiber internet! The space GREAT ROOM The open concept kitchen, dining, and living space allows you to share in the space with your loved ones. It features a wood burning stove, large windows, and a high peaked ceiling. The built in couch features a twin mattress that can be used as an additional bed for the little ones. Note, we built our home as a haven away and it does not include a TV. If you like to cozy up to late night shows, we encourage you to bring your own device and make use of our high speed fiber optic wifi. KITCHEN In a nod to slow, simple living, the kitchen does not include a dishwasher or a microwave. However, you will find a full size stove and oven with an Always Pan + Pot set. The kitchen is stocked with dinner setting for 8, wine glasses, cookware, a crockpot, and an air fryer (because they really are amazing). For coffee, you will have use of a kettle, french press, and chemex. MAIN BEDROOM We know you might want some privacy at the end of a long day. The main bedroom is quite spacious with a comfortable chair to lounge in. The room features a queen sized bed with comfortable cotton bedding. LOFT The loft is where the fun is at. It features two double beds and a seating area for two. The space is a loft but the beds are not visible from the great room. Please note, the loft is accessible by a ships ladder which may not be accessible by all. BATHROOM The bathroom features an oversized tile shower with a window - we know how nice it is to shower off after a long day spent outdoors! OUTDOOR LIVING A deck wraps around half the house, providing a large area for kicking back and soaking up the sunshine, listening to the leaves rustle in the wind, and looking out for wildlife. There is also a propane grill. We sit on 6 acres of land and our community is neighbored by forest service access land. We encourage you to explore. No outdoor fires are permitted. Guest access the Aspen Patch will be your own private retreat. You will have full access to the home + the land around it. There is a mounted rooftop tent that is closed as it will tip and who knows what little critters you may encounter. The home is made for 5 people. No additional guests are allowed at any time without written permission. Please see house rules. Other things to note WINTER WEATHER In winter we do our best to keep the driveway cleared of snow. However, depending on your arrival/departure time, we can't always guarantee the driveway will be cleared. Therefore, please be prepared for snow. We highly recommend AWD/4WD. ELEVATION the Aspen Patch is located at an elevation of 10,000 feet. This can have different effects on everyone but the most common are minor headaches, getting easily winded, and feeling effects of alcohol more quickly. Please be sure to hydrate! WILDLIFE Because we are adjacent to national forest we are regularly visited by wildlife including bears, deer, moose, and even mountain lions. While this is one of the reasons we love the property so much, please be aware. Absolutely no food should be left outside. Please clean grill and grill tools after every use. Trash is to be bagged and left in the mechanical closet for the cleaner to remove after your stay. WOOD STOVE The wood stove is cozy but it comes with some rules. Do not build a fire in the wood stove unless you've read our instructions and safety rules. Never remove ash or hot coals. MOUNTAIN HOME Due to the remote location of our home it has some unique features to consider. It is on a septic system - please do not flush ANYTHING besides toilet paper and be sure to not wash anything down the sinks. We do have fresh well water sourced from the aqueducts below the property. You will notice that some of the mineral deposit is carried in the water. This is not harmful and the water is safe to drink and delicious. If you prefer, there is a Brita pitcher in the fridge.
