Note: pond under renovation. The space We are nestled near the upper end of a mountain valley with a lovely view of the valley and mountains. Happy Place Valley View is the definition of a bucolic setting- “pleasing or picturesque in natural simplicity.” 14 miles to Carver's Gap 21 miles to Sugar Mountain Resort 38 miles to Appalachian Ski Mountain 25 miles to Beech Mountain We sit at 3400’ in Eastern Tennessee, close to the N.C. Border. Our property has an open pond bordered by conservation land on one side and an active working farm with cattle, sheep, and a donkey. Occasionally, we will have coyotes running through the hills. We live off a dead-end road with one home past ours, so it is quiet here. We have about 22 free-range chickens and some ducks on the pond. If you are looking for a serene location, this is the place. Happy Place, Valley View accommodation is located in the walk-out basement of our home with a private entrance, two queen bedrooms, one bathroom with a walk-in shower, a living room with a full-sized futon and TV, a dining room seating 6, a fully equipped galley kitchen with a fully provisioned coffee/tea bar. My husband and I have traveled and run B&Bs in Alaska and the Florida Keys, and our Happy Place in Roan Mountain, Tennessee. We believe in being gracious hosts and anticipating our guests' every need; therefore, we have taken lessons from our travels and have attempted to provide simple things such as coffee, tea, and all the fixings, as well as, when available, freshly laid free-range chicken eggs. Angela has worked in healthcare for over 29 years and ensures tight infection control procedures rivaling those of a hospital. Our well water is filtered and treated with UV light to eliminate any potential microorganisms. We find that it is better than any bottled water. Other things to note If you’re bringing a pet, please let me know as soon as possible. There is a 150‑dollar pet deposit and a small, non‑refundable pet fee of 50 dollars per pet. If there is no damage or pet waste, I’ll refund 100 dollars of the deposit after your stay. Pets must be under control at all times, and dogs may not be left unattended at the property. We are located 4 miles from the center of the town of Roan Mountain on a paved road until you turn off the main road; it is gravel for approximately 0.1 miles and is mostly level, so a four-wheel drive is not needed. In the winter, go slow, as there may be ice on the road and wildlife as well. As you come down, you may be greeted by Jake, a Pyrenees dog (all white) who may bark at your vehicle as you go by but is friendly. We are at the mercy of technology here as much as the rest of the world– cellphone service may be limited. We have Starlink internet, and I can work from home doing Zoom calls, streaming TV, etc., with an average download speed of 100+ Mbps; sometimes, weather or a modem going down can happen and interfere.
