Welcome to our historic three-story cabin, steeped in a 200-year legacy! Originating from a town that was submerged beneath Patoka Lake, this gem now resides in the heart of French Lick. Prepare for an adventure—a sanctuary perfect for an adult retreat or cherished family getaway. A mere 5-10 minute stroll to the exciting downtown scene. Inside, experience the enduring charm of timeless craftsmanship complemented by all of the necessary updates for a cozy, comfortable stay. The history behind this home is truly remarkable. Its foundation dates back centuries, originating in an old town near French Lick that was submerged to form Patoka Lake. When progress led to the construction of the dam, the house was dismantled and moved before flooding of the land began. The core structure found its new home where it stands. The ground floor and sunken living room were added to the original structure. Our aim is to retain the home's original splendor while incorporating modern details to create a more inviting and snug atmosphere for your stay. Enjoy the wonders and spaces of this 3-story cabin. Ground Floor The ground floor welcomes you with a cozy living space featuring a Queen-sized Murphy bed and a full bathroom with a shower. The TV area offers two large chairs. Main Floor Up the first spiral staircase, the main floor houses a kitchen that holds the charm of yesteryears. We offer a large toaster oven and portable stove top cook top for any cooking needs. On this floor is also a dining area, work space, and a sunken living room with an additional Queen-sized Murphy bed. The living room also offers a spacious couch and room for an air mattress if desired (provided for your convenience by request). Another full bathroom with a shower is conveniently located on this floor. There is access to a peaceful deck space from the kitchen. Loft Ascend to the third floor from the continued spiral staircase to a charming loft area with a King bed and two Full-sized beds, offering ample sleeping arrangements. We have safety gates that can be provided if there is any concern for the olden-days style of banister on this floor. Outdoor Spaces On the ground floor, beneath the deck, there's a spacious hot tub that comfortably accommodates up to five visitors, perfect for unwinding and relaxation. Outside the front door, a fire pit awaits, surrounded by a circle of rockers, providing a cozy spot for conversation. The Town The cabin is located near downtown restaurants (you can walk to the local favorites, we recommend the not-on-the-menu steak bites at Ohana!), local shops, and festivities in the town. You can walk or drive to the nearby famous hotels for entertainment year round. It is a short drive to the local winery, golf course (photo included from their site), Patoka Lake, water park (photo from online search), mini golf and the casino. There are so many things to do in this town. Within the cabin, have some fun and see if you can locate the 31 owls that are tucked inside. There are 4 in the basement, 18 on the main floor, and 7 in the loft. 2 are watching from outside! :) The entire house is included in the nightly fee. The garage is offered as a gaming space for hanging out- featuring a ping pong table, foosball table and air hockey. When the weather permits, the garage doors can be opened for some extra space. We are easily and happily available to support your stay at French Lick. Once the house is booked, we will share multiple ways to communicate with us. This home sits off of a main street in downtown French Lick. It does have a private drive and parking. Please take note of the historical spiral staircases when considering this home. Additionally, there are numerous stairs leading from the driveway to the front door.
