Built in 1854 by Charles and Charlotte Playter in the second empire style this stately mansion is full of architectural character exuding the excess of Buffalo's early prosperity. Throughout 2023 the building received a comprehensive renovation including the construction of a new loft apartment on the second floor of the carriage house. Due to the incredible integrity of historic architectural details and the tactful restoration by the development team, the property has been nominated to be on t Guest access Lockbox on front porch - Put the front door key back in the lockbox. You will have your own key in the unit for the duration of the stay. Keypad on apartment doors - To unlock: type code then hit the check mark button - To lock from inside: Turn deadbolt completely. Lock does not close automatically. - To lock from outside: Pull door shut completely, hit any button and wait until deadbolt is fully engaged Other things to note This is a very old house and despite our best efforts, its not perfect. But we hope you embrace the quirks and character as much as we do. The main entrance and stairways are shared so you will probably run into another resident or even the owner during your stay. Be nice and say hi, they might just share a tip to make your stay that much more enjoyable. You will hear footsteps from people in the stairway or closing their doors. Its temporary and we ask all of our Guests to respect their neighbors by keeping the noise down both in the stairway, in their apartments and in the shared side yard. The building is heated by one central boiler and you will not have individual control over the heat in your unit beyond adding layers or opening windows. Due to the size of the building and the tankless hot water system, it may take a minute for the water to get hot, especially the first few times you run a faucet or shower, but once you've been using it regularly it won't take as long.
