Description

An awarded Airbnb Superhost and with Trip Advisor Cert of Excellence, No 11 is possibly the only 170 year old labourer’s cottage with an outdoor sauna! Located in the quintessential village of Great Gransden, the cottage provides a luxurious base with which to explore Cambridgeshire and the East of England. No 11 also makes an ideal base for visiting academics or parents to Cambridge University that don’t wish to be in the middle of town. See House Manual for more info before booking. The space We want to ensure that you have the best possible stay here. Number Eleven is run by Andy next door. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I try to be as ecologically minded as I can be yet make Number Eleven as interesting and comfortable as possible. Number Eleven is different. You probably only need to remember your PJs and toothbrush! Pamper yourself with locally made natural soap and shampoo and conditioner by Faith in Nature. and relax in the sauna....... or both! WELLNESS WEEKENDS Do you need more sleep? Are you tired? Any underlying anxiety? If so, spend 2-3 nights over a weekend at Number Eleven with the option of a late checkout; staying all day on Sunday or Monday. Have a look at the design collections through the decades in the cottage, and revel in the analogue world of the mix tape! For all 80's audio boffs, there's a Panasonic amp, Hitachi speakers, and a Technics cassette deck for use. Go, on dig out your mix tapes and bring them with you. Your phone doesn't care about you anymore. (Plug in aux facilities for your phone are available.....) Downstairs is a cosy living room with an inglenook fireplace almost the depth of the house and nearly the height of the room! A fire pack is ready to go upon arrival stacked with wood sourced, cut and seasoned by yours truly. Logs can then be purchased separately from local shops for the remainder of your stay. The whole house is also heated by Fischer Future Heat radiators. 43" TV in the lounge, DVD players in the bedrooms. The kitchen is custom fitted with a ceramic hob and bright red resin worktops. Fridge freezer/washing machine, iron/board are all included. Drying facilities are available if required. Filtered water on tap. Bespoke hand made crockery is from the Isle of Skye made by Edinbane Pottery; ask us about how it came to be. Both bedrooms have double beds with high count quality Superking sized bedding, storage, hanging facilities, bedside lights, chairs, DVD players, radios with aux facilities, charging cables and make up/shaving mirrors. The bathroom has a powerful digital shower, bath, sink, toilet and a bar of naturally locally made soap. High quality shampoo and moisturisers are also provided along with cotton wool pads and buds (not plastic!). Babies and children are well catered for with cot, changing mat, linen, monitor, bath, stool, toys and games galore. Dogs are welcome with prior notice given at the time of booking; throws, towels and bowls are provided in the Pooch Pouffe in the lounge. Please keep them off the furniture (who chose that sofa?). If Fido's not 100% happy with this arrangement, please use the throws provided in the Pooch Pouffe! Your environment, our ethos: • Soap is by St Neots Natural Soap Company, 6 miles away. • The logs for the fire are responsibly sourced within the village where possible. • Toiletries are not disposable travel sized items and are refilled after use. • Almost all the cleaning products, detergent and washing up liquid I use and supply are bio-degradable. • All bin bags are bio-degradable; directions for recycling (all packaging is recycled & reformed in Huntingdonshire) and food waste are clear. • Electricity is provided by Octopus and is from 100% renewable sources. • When the sun’s out, the sauna is solar powered! Guest access The whole house is yours, save for my laundry cupboard on the landing. Sauna in the back garden with wild and cultivated planting, fresh herbs, sun patio, off street parking, books, games, toys, Pure DAB radio, wired and wireless Bluetooth access for your music all over the house, bathroom, digital shower....., lounge, fire, kitchen diner, TAPE CASSETTES!, fast fibreoptic broadband, comfy sofas, high quality bedding from the White Company and Out of Eden........ However, you are free to bring your own linen in which case there is no charge. Duvet and pillows provided in either case, but please don't sleep on the sofa-bed without sheets.
