Home Base Bungalow Immerse yourself in the charm and tranquility of our newly built, modern craftsman duplex nestled in a historic, tree-filled neighborhood. As our guest, you will have the completely private, downstairs half of our property. Adorned with original art and prints by local artists, as well as two striking murals, our space is designed to inspire your creativity. Conveniently located near downtown, Pasadena, Griffith Park, it is the perfect home base for exploring Los Angeles. The space New, comfortable one bedroom in North East LA historic neighborhood, Mount Washington, on a residential street. One and a half blocks from a metro stop and one block from a grocery store. If you are driving, there is a private one car garage for you. The building has solid wood floors, modern, craftsman-inspired design, and one-of-a-kind art. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room that is queen sized. It does not have a metal bar. The bedroom has blackout curtains and a sound machine for a restful sleep. We have central AC and heat with a smart thermostat. We lovingly designed and built this house. We appreciate you treating kindly with respect to the furnishings and items that share the space. Chef’s kitchen with gas stove, electric oven, full size fridge with filtered water and freezer with ice maker, dishwasher. All of the pots and pans and tools needed for cooking, coffeepot, keurig, toaster, microwave, some spices. Sorry, no BBQ for safety reasons. ABOUT THE AREA Mt. Washington is a residential neighborhood, and right across the street is trendy, restaurant, shop, and bar filled Highland Park and Eagle Rock. There is a grocery store a block away. A taco/burger place and a coffee shop are in the same parking lot. Stroll over for a fancy latte and a pastry in the morning. There are restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. It is a quick drive, one stop away on the metro, or a longer walk to get to shops, coffee shops, restaurants, and bars (and a barcade) in Highland Park and Eagle Rock. Popular Figueroa Street is just two blocks away. There is an old movie theater and an old-fashioned bowling alley/ former speakeasy, farmer’s market, record shops, clothing boutiques, and lots more on Figureroa. A few metro stops in the other direction and you are in downtown with museums, restaurants, breweries, arenas, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Olvera St., the Arts District. SAFETY There are wired-in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and fire sprinklers throughout. There is a fire extinguisher mounted in the garage near the steps. The bedroom and living room have full egress to the outside. There is no staircase, but there are three steps from the garage to the inside and two steps from the gate to the path, then two more steps onto the front porch. Guest access The house is a duplex. You will have access to the entire first level, including a private, attached, one car garage and private entrance. You have your own separate front yard and a cozy side patio with a table and chairs. It faces east, so if you are up you can watch the sunrise while you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee on the private, side deck. Venture up the hill either by foot or car, and be rewarded with grand views and stunning sunsets. Other things to note The house is still pretty new, so some of the landscaping is still getting established. With the exception of Canary palms, fruit trees and edible herbs, the yard is gardened exclusively with CA native plants both for their beauty and sustainability. We have soundproofing between the two levels and we have new, soundproof windows. Sometimes sounds will still travel though. We are artists, teachers, and parents of a young child. You may hear tiny running footsteps from time to time. We are about one and a half blocks away from the metro station. This a flat, short walk, unlike most of Mt. Washington. This means it is super easy to get around Los Angeles and Pasadena. It also means you may hear the crossing bell at the bottom of the street from time to time. For stays of 28 days or longer, you are considered a tenant. A separate lease agreement will need to be signed and a background check performed before your stay.
