Other things to note Liberty is a lovely and peaceful small town within a one-hour drive to Houston, Beaumont, and Galveston. Both homes are in the lovely historic district of Liberty, just three blocks from the courthouse and town square. This area is normally very quiet and peaceful. There are shops and cafes around the square. Most of the city of Liberty’s special events are held around the square. These annual events include the TVE parade in October and the Liberty Jubilee in March. There are also four churches within walking distance - Catholic, Episcopal, Methodist, and Baptist. The Humphreys Cultural Center is just one block away. It is home to the public library and theater. The Valley Players present several plays and events throughout the year. The Humphreys Cultural Center was built on the grounds (one city block) of the former homestead of the Hardin family, early settlers of Liberty County. The family named this homestead Seven Pines. A book titled Seven Pines was written by a Hardin descendent. It chronicles the lives of this family from 1825 to 1872. Our name of Three Pines is a humble nod to Seven Pines and the Hardin family. A copy of Seven Pines is part of our small library of Liberty and Liberty County historical books, available for you to read at Three Pines. Liberty is also home to the Trinity Valley Exposition (TVE), Faux Real Trade Days, Liberty Municipal Golf Course, Liberty County Courthouse, Liberty-Dayton Regional Hospital, Sam Houston Regional Library & Research Center, and the Trinity River Wildlife Refuge. If you want more information on any of these, let me know prior to your stay. Access may require reservations. The golf course is considered the best 9-hole course in Texas and tee times book early. Some parts of the Sam Houston Library and grounds require an advance reservation. It is worth a visit. In addition to the many churches in Liberty, there are several other event centers and wedding venues in the area - Liberty City Hall in Liberty (walk 2 blocks), Shady Oaks Farm in Devers (23 minutes), Honey Bee Ranch in Dayton (7 minutes), Harvest Event Center in Hardin (11 minutes), The Springs in Wallisville (23 minutes).
