The space NOTE: This house is 35 minutes from the Big Stump entrance to Kings Canyon. Air BnB has added to the listing that it is 20 minutes - not true! I am trying to get them to fix that. Dunlap is quiet. There is a school, a post office, and scattered homes and ranches. No shopping centers, no traffic - not even a stop sign. The closest traffic light is miiiiles away. Yet it is within close driving distance of some world class places. Millwood cottage is closest to the Big Stump entrance to Kings Canyon National Park, leading you to the biggest trees on earth. You have to see these redwoods to believe them! If you don't like tight, winding roads, you'll appreciate the Big Stump entrance vs. the Ash Mountain entrance. Your reservation comes with Park and hiking recommendations. Project Survival's Cat Haven, a non-profit dedicated to the survival of wild cats, is only 2 miles away. Here you can take a family oriented, guided tour of a wide variety of lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cougars and so on. Keep your eye out for hang gliders! Dunlap has attracted hang gliding enthusiasts for over 20 year, and is considered "soarable" year round. Gliders can often be seen soaring in the skies above, as their jump-off point is not far away on Highway 180 and their landing spot is close by. Visiting hang gliders are of course warmly welcomed to stay with us! Guest access The parking area and front yard, whole house and back yard are all available to you. Other things to note This a small rural community without the businesses and services you might be accustomed to. The closest supermarkets are 45 minutes away, so do your shopping ahead of time. Keep in mind when you pack that there is no nearby laundromat, and the cottage does not have guest laundry machines. Restaurants are very limited - a pizza parlor, a coffee shop, and a diner type cafe that gets mixed reviews. It’s a good idea to bring most of your meals with you. Our kitchen has everything you need but the groceries!
