You can watch the fisherwomen deftly peel the tiny shrimp in a speeling shed, just a plot away. For the devout and culturally conscious, Perumpalam is also famous and well known as the island of temples. There's also a Muthappa temple where the prasadam is liquor. Kavu, where serpents are venerated also provides the final sanctuary for the wild and unrestrained growth of trees, vines, plants and small animals. Ask your friendly fisherfolk neighbor and they can arrange a visit. Taste the unique and diverse food preparations of the backwaters of Kerala: of freshly caught fish from the lake, prepared in their traditional style by the neighbor next door. Guest access Warning.
