Description

The Rock House: Indulge in the ultimate retreat: a hot tub in nature, heated tile in bathroom, breathtaking views of Longs Peak, Starlink Internet, seclusion, serene silence, in a newly-finished 80 year old Rocky Mountain cabin. This cozy sanctuary is modern with a touch of luxury. Enjoy well-stocked oils/spices/sugar/coffee, and a fully equipped kitchen. Rest on a leather chaise-lounge, wrap up in a soft robe, and try the 1000 sq in pellet smoker for a culinary adventure. Permit: STR-22-113 The space 4-Wheel drive REQUIRED Sept 1-May 31st; medium/high clearance vehicle required year round (ex: don't drive a sports car up). This is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains with gorgeous views, at 9060' in elevation :) This is a wonderful space for those wanting calm silence among nature. There are dirt roads, wildlife, and no sounds of traffic. The cabin is secluded but not isolated (there are neighbors on the private road.) Please read all sections carefully before booking to make sure it's the right fit for you :) Perched on Thorodin Mountain, this studio-cabin is the perfect spot for meditation, relaxation, silence, and inspiration from the natural world. Please note: this property is no smoking, indoors or outdoors, and no fires. Your accommodations will feature an outdoor hot tub, a fully-equipped kitchen, a pellet smoker/grill, a well-appointed bathroom with a laundry area and spacious shower, a dedicated office area complete with a comfortable desk/chair and foot warmer, a charming dining bar with stylish barstools, a leather chaise-lounge for relaxation, and a cozy queen-sized bed. The cabin is a studio, so no walls separate the bed area from the living room/work space. Great for one person, or two people who like being close together! The kitchen is stocked with staples such as sugar, spices, oils, condiments, teas, and coffee. If you wish to sleep under the starry skies, there is plenty of room to set up your tent! The 8’ wide window showcases Longs Peak, Mt Meeker, and Pagoda Mtn. -500 sq ft studio with well-utilized space. -No pets, no fires, and absolutely NO smoking, incense, or vape pens. Colorado catches fire easily... also, we want the cabin to be fresh and smell great for each guest. -Starlink internet service is extremely fast, and usually tests between 60 and 200 MBPS with around 21 ms of latency. Satellite is heated to keep clear during snowstorms. -55" Samsung Smart TV. Peacock TV provided. Other apps available for your login. -You will be at 9,100’ in elevation, mountainside, on a private road. It’s a 15-20 min drive to get to a store/restaurant/gas station. Bring your groceries/supplies--this a true mountain get-away :) -Outdoor adventures are all around! Ski, hike, bike, raft, or fish. Or, check out Black Hawk/Central City with over 25 casinos! WEATHER -You will be in the Rocky Mountains at 9,100’ in elevation. Weather can be unpredictable, and the winds may be severe. -The road going up the mountain is VERY steep. -4-wheel drive is *REQUIRED* Oct 1-May 31st. -If you come during the winter, we ask that you have experience driving in the snow. Winter weather can be unpredictable and we want our guests to be safe. -When storms come, I pay a driver to clear the driveway, however if storms persist you may need to do some shoveling on the steps, walkway, around your car (shovels and salt provided). -The county maintains the private dirt road, and they plow between 6 am and 11 am, normally. -The winds often create snow drifts, so you may have to deal with the aftereffects of Rocky Mountain snow/winds during the winter months. ELEVATION It's important to note that the higher altitude means thinner air, which can affect your physical well-being. 9,100’ is extremely high elevation! Please be mindful of the potential challenges and exertion that may come with residing at this elevation. If you are coming from sea-level, I recommend you be in decent physical shape. Your body can take up to 3 months to adapt to altitude; it’s not something that happens quickly. You should also drink more water than when at sea level; it’s extremely dry in the Rockies. INTERNET -Starklink is extremely fast, but there is no cell service at the cabin (Except for a fleeting AT&T one-bar when the wind blows right 😆) -You must enable “Wi-Fi Calling” on your phone to make calls or receive texts. -“Wi-Fi Calling” is a separate setting on your phone. It is usually turned off by default. -You may need to add “Wi-Fi Calling” to your phone’s plan. -Pro-tip: turn on Airplane Mode to force your phone to use Wi-Fi Calling. DRIVING TIMES o Denver Airport: 1 hr 21 min o Nederland: 16 min o Black Hawk: 22 min o Boulder: 38 min o Eldora Ski Resort Park-n-Ride (RTD shuttle): 18 min o Golden Gate State Park: 14 min o Panorama Point: 15 min o Eldora Ski Resort (main lot): 26 min o Rollinsville: 15 min o Central City: 24 min o Red Rocks Amphitheatre: 50 min o Estes Park: 1 hr o Longs Peak Trailhead: 57 min o Rocky Mountain Park entrance: 1 hr 15 min o Arvada: 36 min o Golden: 41 min KITCHEN The cabin is equipped with nearly all tools you may need to cook. Just bring groceries!! Wood pellet smoker, pots, pans, lids, dishes, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, electric water kettle, microwave, dish drying rack, dish clothes, kitchen towels, pot holders, veggie peeler, can opener, wine openers, pizza stone, convection oven with air-fryer function, gas range, knives, cutting boards, colander, mixing bowls, etc. There are oils, spices, coffee, teas, vinegars, sugar, etc available for you as well! BATHROOM -There are nice soft bath towels/wash cloths, and all-cotton robes. -Heated tile floors, a Toto toilet, and a black granite vanity surface. -The shower has shampoo and conditioner; usually Pantene Pro-V or Dove. -The body wash is usually Suave or Dove. -There is a washer and dryer, but please limit the use of these as much as possible. The cleaning company will wash towels/sheets. (The well is shallow so delicate water consumption is required. Thank you!) -Gain laundry products, always 🙂 Guest access You'll have full access to the entire house, with just one exception: there is a small locked utilities closet in the bedroom area. Inside the bathroom vanity, there are two cabinets that are also locked, but there is ample storage available for your toiletries in the vanity-drawers and main vanity cabinet. Other things to note • No smoking of cigarettes/vape pens anywhere on property. NO tobacco use anywhere on property. • The hot tub is tucked behind the house and not in the view of Longs Peak. • An indoor air quality detection system is in place. • Please be peaceful and considerate guests; our neighbors are like family, and respecting their peace and privacy is our top priority. • Fireplace is not functional. • Please limit to 1 load of laundry per week. The well is 101 ft deep, so delicate water consumption is requested/required. • No food dumped or left outdoors. It WILL attract local bears. • Bath faucet turned off to conserve water; shower only. • Park in your own private driveway, uphill from the cabin. • There are rock/concrete steps used to traverse the grade to the porch/front door. There is NO RAMP to the porch/front door. • An exposed wall furnace heats the home; the grill (floor to ceiling) gets VERY HOT while running. This may pose a risk to children, or those with mobility issues, so please only book after considering this risk. • No pets allowed. • Snow removal is contracted with a local provider, but shoveling may be necessary throughout your stay if storms persist. • 4-wheel drive and high clearance is required October 1st through May 31st. • The dirt roads are well-maintained, but some roads leading to The Rock House are at a steep incline. • There is an abundance of wildlife in the yard: moose, bear, bobcat, mountain lion, mule deer, ground squirrels and chipmunks. Some animals can be dangerous; please do not approach any wildlife. • Here you'll find deer and chipmunks who consider this place their territory, and they feel quite comfortable around people. I kindly ask that you treat our animal-friends with care and respect. You'll become familiar with the same deer and chipmunks, as they are frequent visitors to thorny bushes and pine nuts located porch-side. • Hammock removed during winter months, Oct-April-ish. • Outdoor furniture removed during winter months, Oct-April-ish. They will blow away.
