Large English Country House in Ashdown Forest

This large country house in Ashdown Forest is the perfect stay for hen do's, extended family get togethers or large groups with children. Situated in an AONB, it has a large garden with views over the farm and rolling countryside, outside dining, BBQ and firepit. Of the Arts and Crafts style, we have lovingly renovated to expose the beautiful character of the house, styled with Farrow&Ball colour design, SkinFlint lighting, Sisal carpeting and boutique bathrooms. The space This large 'Hatch' house was a pedestrian gateway to Ashdown Forest. Built over 3 periods the original part is 500 years old, featuring large, exposed beams. The large wooden panel downstairs ‘Grand Hall’ leads up into a large staircase and mezzanine 360-gallery with library giving a grand and spacious feel. There are 6 bedrooms, spacious enough to add in extra mattress for children so families can share rooms. We have 16 bed spaces and 2 extra single floor mattress with bedding on request, meaning the house can accommodate a total of 18 guests. The large kitchen is great for cooking and dining, with a large country AGA. With high ceilings and tall windows and patio doors you can look out over the large garden and rolling countryside. The large ‘snug’ living room with Large TV also looks out to the large garden and countryside with summer sunset views. There is 650 square metres of living space and plenty of different zones to ensure everyone can enjoy a quiet moment if they want. We stock the kitchen with everything you need - oil, sugar, quality ground coffee, tea, herbal teas salt and pepper, herbs and spices, washing up liquid, kitchen foil etc so you don't have bring every last item with you. We also provide organic soap, shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms and sinks. There is space for 8 or 9 cars in the driveway. We can put you in touch with a local private chefs who can cater to your requirements, providing a special meal/buffet or food for the weekend. We also have local yoga teachers, gong bath facilitators, craft facilitators who can come to the property to give your group a private session. On the edge of Ashdown Forest there are many beautiful local walks, county pubs, outdoor activities as well as an interesting diverse programme of events in the local village, Forest Row. You can access the biodynamic farm, farm shop and barista coffee barn direct from the property. Please note this is our family home when not booked out on Air BnB. We have direct neighbours so respectful groups are very welcome, we have hosted many hen do's. However if you are planning a wild party this is not the venue for you. Guest access Guests will have sole access to the whole house and garden. There is space for 8 cars to park. Other things to note This is an outdoor free shoe house - please bring slippers or soft soled indoor shoes - no stiletto heels please as they mark the wooden floors; Food and drinks downstairs only please - this is to prevent accidental spillage on the sisal carpeting upstairs which can not be cleaned; Pets downstairs only please; Smoking and vaping outside only please; No music outside please; Quiet hours 9pm-8am, please keep noise to a minimum outside after this time and inside after 10pm. Please note this house is our family home and not suitable for wild parties as we have direct neighbours and because of the risk of damage, please choose another venue if this is your intention - Thank you.
