The Berry Cabin

The Berry Cabin--a brand new vacation retreat located at the entrance of Hungry Mother State Park. Underneath new German chink siding are the original logs from the 30s—built in the same fashion as the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) cabins that still exist in the park. Hungry Mother State Park is one of the six original CCC parks that opened in 1936. Come relax with the whole family and enjoy the coziness and the quirks of this 90 year old cabin! The space The Berry Cabin is situated at the back of 3.5 acres (with 3 additional Airbnb properties). Directly across from this property is Camp Burson, the entrance to Hungry Mother State Park. The cabin has a moderate-sized living room and kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom/laundry room. The living room also has a pull-out sofa. The front porch is the perfect place to enjoy a good book or just some quiet time. Lounge on Hungry Mother State Park beach, hike or bike the many trails, or cast your line to catch the big one! Enjoy the beautiful Appalachian mountains while kayaking the lake! We hope you enjoy your stay! Guest access Access to the lake trail is directly across from the property. The Clyburn trail is adjacent to the property. In addition to hiking and biking the trails at Hungry Mother State Park, there is a beach area (with concessions), a gift shop (inside the park and at Camp Burson), playground areas, canoe/paddleboat/paddleboard/kayak rentals. Other things to note Downtown Marion has excellent restaurants (Mi Puerto, Macados, Wooden Pickle, Moondog, Sister's Cafe & Gifts, Sur 81....to name a few, as well as many fast food chains) and shopping (Blue Ridge Outfitters, Marion Outdoors, Army/Navy Store, Just Believe Boutique, and others). Take in a movie or a game of putt-putt at Park Place Drive-in. Grab an ice cream at Park Place or a decadent dessert at Wooden Pickle. Enjoy some coffee or pastries at Better Coffee Co. on Broad Street or Starbucks. Marion’s own Lincoln Theatre, one of the last remaining Mayan Revival style theaters in the world, provides a variety of performing arts events. And just a short drive away…the Barter Theatre, Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre, Grayson Highlands State Park (wild ponies), the Virginia Creeper Trail, Bristol Raceway, The Back of the Dragon, the Appalachian Trail.
